Hello, this is Chapter 1 of a story called, ” Are You A Reader?” Hope you enjoy!
Liana got out of bed and stretched. She had moved to New York City 6 months ago, and surprisingly, she was still trying to fit in. Liana dialed the number of her best friend, and Ella picked up. ” Hello? This is Ella Mayfire?” she said in a cocky accent. ” Ella…. It’s me! Liana!” Liana shouted. The only reason they were friends was because of the blockbuster School For Good and Evil series. The reason they had met was sort of cliche, but it was one of the most important things in Liana’s life.
” So.. I was wondering if you’d like to come to The School For Good and Evil theme park that my dad is sponsoring on Saturday!” Ella said, her voice shaking with excitement. ” Seriously? That’d be aaaamazing!” Liana shouted, before she realized that she was making a terrible ruckus. Liana pulled her brunette hair into a side braid, while washing her face and putting cucumbers over her warm brown eyes. She wasn’t one of those snobs who had a beauty routine. Liana just wanted to be able to have an excuse to secretly eat the cucumbers…. Half an hour later, Liana rushed down to see her mom balancing a tray of syrupy waffles in her right hand, while holding a lemon-lime seltzer in the other. ” Have a good day, sweetie!” she shouted as Liana scarfed down the waffles and grabbed her previously packed bag and slung it over her shoulder. Liana gave a half wave and then fell on her face. Ugh. What was wrong with these new sneakers? Instead of looking forward to a smiling Ella helping her up, she was face to face with Rachel Lynderson’s sparkling designer flats. “Ooh. Look what loser towed in today!” she sniggered with her minions nodding in sync, twirling their hair. Liana sighed, and walked over to the bus stop, trying to ignore the taunts that followed her.
Liana rushed over to Ella, who was standing there, her shoulder length white-blonde hair pulled into a messy bun. ” Hey Li. What’s been going on now?” she said with a smirk, though not unkindly. ” Oh, just the usual. Tripping over my feet and having to deal with that Rachel girl.” I said. Ella looked taken aback. ” You mean.. Rachel Lynderson? The nice one? I’ve also invited her to come this Saturday too. It’s gonna be great!” Ella was one of those people who thought life could be perfect. Making friends with the mean girl, trading nail polish tips, blah di da di da. But Liana was only thinking one thing. Oh, Ella, what mess have you gotten yourself into this time?
Liana stepped onto the bus, and took was about to take her usual seat next to Ella, only to find it occupied. By none other than Rachel. ” Oh look guys, it’s loser again! I steal all your things, huh? I even stole your friend.” Rachel sneered, but not loud enough for Ella to hear. Liana just glared at her, and tapped the shoulder of a petite girl with toffee skin, sitting in the back by herself. ” Mind if I sit here?” she said politely. ” OH! I wouldn’t mind at all. I’ve been so jealous of Rachel and Ella all the time, they make life seem just PERFECT!” she ranted. Liana smiled. ” Yes, that’s true about Rachel, but I don’t think Ella’s like that just because she’s her new best buddy.” Liana tried to keep calm, but inside she was boiling with anger at Ella. Why did Ella just have to make friends with Liana’s worst enemy?
