Did you guys hear about the new requirements in order for movies to be considered best picture for the Oscars???
A1. Lead or significant supporting actors
At least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors is from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.
• Black/African American
• Indigen…[Read more]
YASSS I’m a full Korean from America, and I totally support this!!!
Omg, I love thisss. I’m black, and I having a sight disability (Nystagmus), but not much has been done to help ppl with it
I agree with those requirements. It’s going to make the movie awesome!
@bestseriesever I think Agatha should be played by whomever is the best actress suited to play her, but it would be amazing if the actress is a POC because diversity is rlly important!
@bestseriesever I think it would be awesome if Agatha was played by an Asian Indian, but I agree with @hermionejackson that the best actress suited to play her should play her. The casting directors just need to open the auditions up to everyone, no matter what race you know? But I personally believe that Agatha should be played by a POC actress.
A lot of people are doing the which character would I fit but for personalities and I thought I’d try!
Personality: I grew up being honestly quite shy. I was not the best at making friends but the ones that I made I was very close with. In middle school, I became more outgoing due to meeting a friend who taught me how to open up more and be more…[Read more]
Can we all agree that if anyone finds any information about casting at all (whether it’s open casting or not, or where to find that info if it is) that we share it in this group?
Yeah! Unless, if you become a movie ambassador and you aren’t allowed too…
I thought the whole point of movie ambassadors were to spread information about the movie
Paul feig is reaching out to people he knows for auditions so open casting looks like it isn’t happening
I wanted to bring this up, because I have been thinking about the movie and whether or not they have open casting, I was thinking that Agatha should be played by a person of color…? Like I know that she’s described as being white (pale skin etc) but the message she leaves is so empowering (love yourself for who you are, don’t let how other…[Read more]
You make a good point, and I do see where you are going with that, but I would PEFER to have it played by someone with pale skin, black hair and buggy eyes, lol. That is my opinion, but I do respect what you’re saying, and I see your point
I agree with Anastasia since Agatha’s description is reliant on the fact that she is pale with buggy eyes. but everyone else could be played by any nationality (except Anadil)
shouldn’t it just be based on whoever plays her the best?
Totally agree! I think it should go to whoever can do it justice. As far as character ethnicities go, they change up details about character apprearance all the time if it isn’t central to the character. Like I would say Sophie’s specific look is central to her character but agathas isn’t as much imo but yeah I see both sides of it
Exactly! Agatha’s message is so relevant to people of color. I’m Indian and I had a lot of difficulty learning to accept myself for being a person of color. People have been making fun of my culture for as long as I can remember and with that comes shame for being a POC. If I could see a person who looks like me (or just in general is POC) in this…[Read more]
Ohhhhhhhhh. I see where ur going now…but still The ONE thing that just makes me slightly hesitant is, wouldn’t Sophie have to be a POC too? Cause they are sisters, and Vanessa is described like Agatha. Just saying, don’t be mad, I’m not like, [email protected] Or anything, I’m sorry, if this is harsh, I’m just wondering
Don’t worry about it lol, I totally see where you’re coming from cause I was thinking about that too. In the third book Vanessa changed her appearance to look more like “pretty”…? And Sophie looks like Stephan…? Idk it’s confusing but like I’m hoping they could make it work…? Hopefully this makes a bit more sense haha
if they make Agatha a poc I think they should have Stefan, Vanessa, and Sophie as the same race for storyline purposes
@bellarontiris I’m 90% sure whoever they cast as Agatha will also play Vanessa for the short time that the story talks about Vanessa, because she looks exactly like Agatha and they are around the same age (16) when Vanessa pursues Stefan, so I don’t think it’s necessary to do that. I also think people will buy it if Stefan looks super similar to…[Read more]
@avaofmaidenvale Exactly! I honestly think it wouldn’t matter too much if Agatha is POC. I feel like audiences would actually appreciate that Netflix is making an effort to include more diversity, they’d get more of an audience because of that.
Lady Lesso: Helena Bonham Carter
I think it’s interesting that she played Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter AND the fairy godmother in the live action Cinderella. I even imagined Bellatrix singing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo. Of course, it was insanely weird and creepy, so I would not advise any of y’all to try it.
