guys when fancasting tedros it’s probably best to remember that sofia is only 17, and will be 17 for the entire time she’s filming, so anyone in their 20s is probably too old to be tedros hh– maybe at the absolute most he could be 20 but no older, the actor will probably be more like 16/17/18/19.
ok you know what, as a follow up to my tedros post I made the other day; I’m also really worried about Hester’s casting. Her and Tedros are my biggest concerns, tbh, bc I think people have these really specific unflexible ideas about them. Hester seems to be the favourite character on here, and so I think people are going to be REALLY intense…[Read more]
Aah I’m really scared for Hester too! Back in my day (lolll) when I first started reading the series, Hester was a favorite. And though she’s portrayed as sort of pale-ish and white in the books, I’ve always seen her as more of an olive-skinned, like possibly Hispanic or Mediterranean idk. Whatever she looks like though, I just hope that she can…[Read more]
I’m really worried about Tedros’s casting, to be honest. Not because of WHO they’re going to cast, bc I’m sure whoever it is, he’ll be a great actor, and I could not care less what he looks like (yes, this includes if they change his race, I actually think that would be a good idea)– I’m actually worried about the reaction to him. I keep seeing…[Read more]
i was just thinking about that as well. the backlash to sophie and agatha’s casting over mostly ridiculous things is insane(they’re not confident enough, they’re TOO OLD *rolls eyes*, and my *air quotes* favorite “oh this is just my opinion but agatha doesn’t look right she’s not supposed to be black she’s supposed to be pale sofia wylie should be…[Read more]
YES YES YES I agree with you 100% (I personally love the guy who did it, the dancing was ON POINT)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Same, I liked the guy for Tedros in the QFG countdown, and didn’t even realize that people hated on him….
And the backlash for the Agatha casting is frustrating, she may have not been like her book description but that doesn’t mean that Sophia Wylie can’t portray her well. I’ve seen some clips of both and even though my initial…[Read more]
y’all… they’re not too old, sophie and agatha are NOT 12 in book one. in a first draft they were 15. so sofia is the perfect age, and sophia looks young enough to pass. and for everyone saying they wish they cast an “worse looking” actress for agatha… beauty is SO subjective, and isn’t it just so mean to turn around to a teenage actress and…[Read more]
I agree with you! As long as they are good actors/actresses and they are suited to the role then I’m absolutely fine with them. Tho tbh I’ve never heard of either of these people so I had to Google them XD
^^^^ @/bunnyrabbit123 I never know Amy actors ppl put on here😂😂
guys remember that open casting was never actually guaranteed to happen? soman only ever vaguely said it was a possibility but obviously it didn’t pan out like that. I know everyone’s disappointed but it’s not really suprising that netflix have opted to choose professional actors instead. they’re hard roles to play.
Ya, I totally agree with you. I am just so excited to see the movie and I would want to have experienced actors trust me I wanted to audition too.😂
Not to be problematic… but when will young actors who don’t have access to an agent get their big break?
I’m so late, but try looking around for student films. You could be a PA or actor to get on set. Also acting in theater can get you noticed. The main way to go is go to acting school when you are younger, which can give you access to agents and stuff.
Plus, i assume they didn’t want to do too much open casting due to COVID
They’ve cast Sophie and Agatha! Paul Feig (the director) gave an interview and said they had, though it hasn’t been announced who they are yet 🙂 possibly they’ve cast everyone else too! The interview is here: https://youtu.be/Um3ewIlzpaY
Yes, it had already been posted. Many fans are upset and angry.
I wish the actors were selected with an open competition or casting.
Hey guys I come on this page quite often to see what Soman’s got to say and I’ve noticed A LOT of the same questions being asked repeatedly (especially around the film), so I made an FAQ kinda on Soman’s behalf for all the questions people ask all the time! It’s on my Instagram (I’m pumpkinpaperweight) and here’s the link:…[Read more]
Hi Soman, do you by any chance know what the most reliable way of getting a copy of Quests for Glory more or less on time in England is? Blackwell, Waterstones and the Kindle Store all say it comes out in January- Amazon looks like it will be on time, but I seem to remember there being trouble with Amazon when the Ever Never Handbook came out. Can…[Read more]
On one of his blogs there is a link for Blackwells where you can preorder internationally.
In A World Without Princes, when Agatha was having those dreams about Tedros, did Tedros have the same or similar dreams?
if I see one more person say “oh sofia would be a better nicola than agatha”… sofia is very tall (5’10), very thin, and she’s mixed race; her dad is black + korean and her mum is white, I think. nicola is “a short buxom black girl” (qfg). “buxom” meaning she’s not skinny, and all of her illustrations, plus the girl who played her in the quests…[Read more]
I agree! Buxom actually means plump with large *******, imo it’s quite annoying when people draw Nicola as really skinny
Dude, it’s okay for people to have their own opinions too. They’re allowed to think that and post it.
And she may be your perfect actress, but a lot of people have ideas of what their perfect Agatha would be. And maybe she doesn’t fit it. That’s okay. You’re right that our opinions don’t matter because she’s already been cast, however, if people…[Read more]
Well a lot of them are also being racist
@kittybp2 people… HAVE been asking for soman and paul to change it though, especially in the youtube and instagram comments, coz I’ve seen them. lots of them. and it’s fine to have an opinion, but people just knee-**** saying she’d be a better nicola just because she’s black is not it, it feels at best deliberately obstinate and at worst…[Read more]
Like StoryBrooke said, its fine if you’re upset she doesn’t match the character perfectly (though you’ll have to accept that changing her skin color was a deliberate choice and the casting isn’t going to change). But so many people have been really rude and racist towards her. Saying that Sofia Wylie should play the only other black female…[Read more]
can we not judge them based on appearance? For all I know, she could be the best Agatha ever. Or the worst. Wait til you’ve seen them in the movie. I thought we were past the phase of judging a book by its cover, but apparently not
