Chapter Eight: The Fairy and the Fiend
It was lunch in the Clearing, and I was trying to spot Nix. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around. No one was there. I turned back. I felt another tap. I turned around again. Still no one was there. I turned back around again, agitated. I felt another tap. Annoyed, I twirled around, swiftly. I looked around closely. Angered, I turned around, intent on moving. A fairy stared back. Nix. She had baby blue skin, and fiery purple eyes. Her hair was white-blue, and in a messy updo with a tiara of blue orchids. She was wearing a black cross-back toga dress, so sparkly, it was almost blinding. She was barefoot. She had transparent lavender butterfly wings. I stared into her mischevious eyes. She was flying in cannonball position. “Don’t worry, ***,” she said to me. “I’m only vicious when I feel like it. Or when you anger me. Keep that in mind.” I nudged her so she was far enough away not to make me uncomfortable. “Who’s worrying?” I asked. She shrugged. “Apparently not you, which means your either really brave, or really stupid,” she said. “Because as I said, you don’t want to anger me, and I’m angered VERY easily. Including when someone stands up to me.” I patted her back. “Well then,” I said, “You better roll up your sleeves if your as your as vicious as you say, because here’s reality. It’s not that easy to keep two Evers from being friends. We’re in Good for a reason. Why did you do it?” She cackled. “Good joke. I’m EVIL, ***. I’ll play tricks that malicious for fun.” I gave her a suspicious look. She groaned. “Fine,” she said. “I don’t even know you. I did it because that sly Tigress girl asked me to, offering to pay me in glitter.” I stared at her, jaw dropped. “What?” she asked. “I like shiny things!” I shook my head. “Thanks. I forgive you. At least you did it for a girl who doesn’t like me very much.” She saluted me. “Don’t say thank you. I’ll probably be hurting you in the future.” I waved it off, and sat back down as she disappeared in a puff of purple smoke.
“You ******!” I said loudly to Tigress. I had found her in the Groom Room, getting her “evening makeup” done before History of Heroism. She looked at me from one of the aromatic bath pools. She was wearing a sparkly pink two-peice. “What did you just call me?” I walked behind her. “You heard me!” I said. “You got Nix to put spells on Jake so that he would think I was Evil! Why?” I asked. She waved it off. “I don’t know what your talking about.” I smirked, and twisted my arm. The bath water started to bubble. She started flailing her arms, and stepped out of the pool. I put my hand on my hip as she said, “Alright, I did it. Nix is a snitch…” Inodded, and she continued. “I’m jealous of you. You should know more than anyone. You have three guys chasing after you, and the entire school is in awe at the fact that you take Swordplay instead of Beautifacation! Do you know what Professor Dovey says? That you don’t have to take it, because you don’t need it!” I blushed, and she rolled her eyes. “Whatever,” she said. “I’m still the most popular Evergirl in School, and I BELONG with the most popular Everboy. So, stay out of my way, or you WILL be sorry.” She grabbed her pink duffle bag, and sashayed out of the Groom Room.
