I know that Rhian is pronounced ree-ahn because that’s how they pronounce it on ENtv, not sure about the others.
cattyrose replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
That’s just how they pronounce it tho. I’m british and (sorry if I got this wrong) I have yet to meet someone called Rhian/Rhyan/Ryan/any other ways of spelling it who’s name is not pronounced Ri-an
doveys-apprentice replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Soman wrote the book, so how he pronounces the name of his character would be the official pronunciation. You can, of course pronounce the names any way you like, but the “official” pronunciation is Ree-ahn 🙂
cattyrose replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
not necassarily. A certain name may have originated in America, but different places pronounce different sounds differently, so the way it’s pronounced in a different place is not incorrect
Here is an example of just how many different accents there are, and this is just in UK which is a tiny place so think about the rest of the world!
cattyrose replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
(btw ik there are tons more dialects in wales and scotland but if we did all of those as well we would be here forever)
cattyrose replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
oh forget that there’s tons more dialects in England too if we did all of the accents there’d be bordering on 500
