My Ranking Points
how do you pronounce, personally, the following names:
(hahaha arbed boiissssss)
and um yeah i just realised thats it
and if you care, which you dont, i pronounce them like this (and whatever u say wont change my mind but im still curious lol):
aric – literally how its spelt.NOT pronounced as Eric
japeth – JAY-peth. not JA-peth. thanks.
kei – i dont actually say his name tbh ahaha
rhian – i used to say it like “RY-an” but now i say “ree-AAN”
if anyone else replies that would be cool also
Aric – i say eric don’t murder me lol
Japeth – Ja-peth don’t murder me again
Kei – Kay
Rhian – ree-in
How I do itttt
Aric – Ah-ric
Japeth – Jah-peth
Kei – key
Rhian – Ry-an
That’s exactly how I pronouce them too. I also pronouce Nicola as Ni-cola like coca-cola.
(this could be wrong, but it’s how I imagine it.)
Welcome to me mispronouncing character names!
and just an add-on for this
I know that Rhian is pronounced ree-ahn because that’s how they pronounce it on ENtv, not sure about the others.
That’s just how they pronounce it tho. I’m british and (sorry if I got this wrong) I have yet to meet someone called Rhian/Rhyan/Ryan/any other ways of spelling it who’s name is not pronounced Ri-an
Soman wrote the book, so how he pronounces the name of his character would be the official pronunciation. You can, of course pronounce the names any way you like, but the “official” pronunciation is Ree-ahn 🙂
not necassarily. A certain name may have originated in America, but different places pronounce different sounds differently, so the way it’s pronounced in a different place is not incorrect
Here is an example of just how many different accents there are, and this is just in UK which is a tiny place so think about the rest of the world!
(btw ik there are tons more dialects in wales and scotland but if we did all of those as well we would be here forever)
Aric- Eric sry
Kei- Kai *guy with a K*
I somehow stumbled across this
Aric = Eric
Kei = Kee
Rhian = Ryan
Japeth = Juh-PETH
idk that is just how I imagined them to be pronounced hahaha, but when I was little I thought that Penelope was pronounced PEN-eh-lope with a long one so 🤣
