Hey guys! So this is my first POV for Meggie. I know it’s rough, but it was a little hard for me to figure out how to start the story, so I gave it my best. Please, help is ALWAYS appreciated! Hope you like, and I’m looking for someone to meet her, anyone want to? Thanks 😉
    Meggie’s POV

Escaping Gemini was going to take a lot of courage, strength and guts. All of the things Meggie didn’t have. Taking a deep breath, she opened her traveling backpack and double-checked she had everything. Flashlight, check. Money, check. Water bottle, check. A bit of food, chec- The air suddenly grew thick and heavy, and it became hard to breathe. A crushing sensation squeezed her heart, threatening to crack. As she removed these items from her pack, Meggie pulled out a worn-looking Polaroid of a young girl and her mother. Pain and memories flooded her mind, and tears stung Meggie’s eyes. Too much. It was all too much. Unable to bear it anymore, she shoved the picture back in the bag, and continued her checklist.

Tiptoeing across the hallway, heart thumping in her chest, Meggie slowly made her way to the doorway, step by step. This was it, the day she would escape Gemini. She was scared. No, terrified was more like it. Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud snore echoeing from the dining room, and she froze. Shaking like a leaf in the wind, she peeked around the corner, fear written all over her. Meggie’s eyes searched the small living room and found her father, passed out ***** on the small wooden table that makes for a dining table. A foul-smelling liquid was spilled out onto the floor, dripping slowly from its overturned bottle on the table. Still shaking, Meggie took a deep breath and took a step forward. Creak! Her heart stopped. Petrified, Meggie froze, and stole a quick look at her father, stirring in his sleep. After making sure he was sound asleep, she exhaled, and continued her nerve-wracking journey towards the door, towards freedom. Finally, hand on the handle, she opened it. Taking one last look at the closest thing she had as a home, she slipped out, and the echo of the door seemed to resonate throughout the entire house.

Like a mouse in the darkness, Meggie scurried down the alleys, careful to avoid the streetlights and late workers coming back from work. If she got caught, she would be in so much trouble… Huffing and puffing, she finally arrived at the docks, where a little ship was waiting. She slowly approached it, her heart nearly bursting out of her chest. This was it. This was her way to Pisces, her way to her dream. The boaters nothing fancy, and looked to be about 30 feet long, all white with a silver stripe going around the outside of it. People started filing in, all looking for a way to get out of this dump of a town. Understandable. Suddenly, a hand squeezed Meggie’s wrist, and she could feel nails digging into her skin. She jumped, and froze, petrified that her dad found her, and was going to drag her back to the house and… she couldn’t even imagine what he would do to her.
“The money, please,” a hoarse voice hissed in her ear. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t talk. This certainly wasn’t her father, but Meggie was nonetheless paralyzed with fear.
“Give me the money!” The captain roared, tightening his grip around her wrist. Her trembling hand reached into her pocket and pulled out 10 gold coins. Her only 10 coins, now into the pocket of an angry old man. He let go of her hand roughly and shoved her inside. Falling flat on her face, Meggie let out a small whimper, blood pouring from her forehead where a deep cut was now formed.
Ugh, she thought. Great job, Meggie, you’re just amazing.
Blood gushing from her forehead, she skimmed over to one of the rooms and knocked on the heavy wooden door. Hearing no answer, Meggie swung it open timidly and headed for the bathroom, proceeding to try to stop the bleeding.

nice POV! The only thing is that Gemini does send students as well. If you knew that already, well, I’m just incorrect (again XD). They don’t need to be snuck in.

Yeah, Gemini does send students! It’s fine, though!
Note: Gemini does send students, but once someone from Gemini goes to the academy, they are never allowed to return to their life in Gemini.

Yes I knew that, but what I meant was that she had to sneak away since her father would never let her go to Pisces for reasons I will get into later. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for all the feedback!

        Awesome!!! Very smooth writing!!!
Is it sad that I absolutely FREAKED when you knew what a Polaroid was?
        YES!!! I AM NOT ALONE!!!

All my life I’ve been living in the fast lane
        Can’t slow down
        I’m a rollin’ freight train
        One more time
        Gotta start all over
        Can’t slow down
        I’m a lone red rover
        Oh
How did it come to this
        Oh
        Love is a polaroid
        Better in picture
But never can fill the void

Polaroid by Imagine Dragons! Sorry, I read “Polaroid” and I just had to reccommend the song! Gosh, sorry! I’m such a music geek! And use waaaaay too many exclaimation points…XD
