Hey! I talked about this a few days ago and started a small trend based on it but once again, I want to petition for a diverse cast! Representation is a great thing so can we get some plus size and PoC going in this movie? Everyone make posts talking about diversity in the cast if you agree! A few ideas:
Lizzo for Sheeba (black and plus sized)
Liris for Lesso (black and plus sized)
That’s only 2 out of like a thousand and I’d love to see some Caribbean representation since I swear I haven’t seen a single movie where there’s a Caribbean who isn’t some partied the whole time and it’s pretty annoying. Just a thought, diversity please! Spread the word!

Yeah, I think diversity is great! For example, Agatha they’d just have to make her look more “shadowy”. Though I feel like Sophie should look like she does in the books, cause her appearance is really important for her character.

i think if it’s really important in the books (eg Sophie) it should be kept the same but honestly, basically any other character i think would be great as a BIPOC
AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE BIPOCS FROM THE NOVEL ARE ACCURATELY REPRESENTED like making reenactment arabian/middle eastern/indian and making kiko southeast asian, etc

          PREACH YES!
I’m fine with Sophie being her book description but Asian or BIPOC Agatha would be epic! BIPOC Tedros would be awesome and I hope the POC in the books are actual POC.

        Big yes!!!

Asian Agatha would be amazing and maybe black or mixed-race Tedros. And characters like Kiki and Reena obviously have to be their ethnicities in the books.

          uraza169 replied 2 months, 1 week ago

          Oops Kiko not Kiki

        crazycatlady82 replied 2 months, 1 week ago

With the author being non-white I assumed he would push for that. The students are from all over so the casting could really get creative.

          uraza169 replied 2 months, 1 week ago

          I agree!

YES. also I can DEFINITELY see Lizzo as Sheeks it just fits. I feel every character they didnt specify the race of in the books thay should try to get as much representation as possible. so like agatha, tedros, hester (as much as I want to play her if theres open casting more representation would be worth not doing it), lesso, dovey, manly, the other teachers/students. Sophie obviously must be a skinny white blonde girl with green eyes just because its so important to the books, Anadil… Anadil I dont even have to explain, so for Dot I havent read book six the full way through yet but people say that her race is specified, Kiko, Reena, Ravan, they must all be accurately represented because I swear if they dont I will be vv mad. but for everyone else they should get away from white as default (as I feel it is in the media at this point) and get a much more diverse cast

*spoes* I’d love to see liris and lizzo as lesso and sheeks! East Asian Agatha would be awesome too

dancingthroughsge replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago

The only characters where their looks play an important part is Sophie and Anadil, so I think they should be their original akin colour, but the rest or at least most of the rest should be BIPOC.

ladyofthebooksge replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Yep! Totally agree, and for Tedros and Agatha, it’s not really with the canonical race or looks, they can be BIPOC and still fit the story elements.
