You know what’s worse than a castle full of airhead princesses and fairies who insist you wear some pink rag as a uniform?
A castle full of airhead princesses and fairies who insist you wear some pink rag as a uniform where you SHARE a room full of MIRRORS with two MORE thickheads!
She whipped her shiny black hair out of her face angrily and looked down at her “schedule” and books.
She read out loud;
Dawn of Woods Beyond
Good, First Year
Charity Tower 32
Beautification Prof Emma Anemone
Princess Etiquette. Pollux
Animal Communication. Princess Uma
History of Heroism. August Sader
Good Deeds. Prof Clarrisa Dovey
Surviving Fairytales. Yuba the Gnome
She snorted. What? Beautification ? Did they SERIOUSLY expect her to sit there and wait for some prince to choose her because she batted her eyelashes?
Whatever. She looked at her books.
Then looked away.
She couldn’t even stand to look the titles . Winning your prince? Are you kidding me?
She stomped over to her vanity, repulsed by what she saw. The pink dress hung off her hips and chest like a potato sack. The lace collar and hem scratched her skin reddish pink, and massive heels cramped her toes.
She rolled her eyes.
“Oh, forget this!”
She ripped the lace hem off and tied it around her hips, and pulled the lace collar to the back. She tore off her shoes and snapped a good two inches off to heel. Placing them back on her feet, she snipped a few carnations of the shoulders and stuck them on her impromptu lace belt.
She smiled at her improved reflection.
She shuddered at what she was going to do. But now, she was free from her fathers rule. She could do anything. Picking up the glass shard, she raised it to her cheeks –
And slashed it through her hair.
Black hair fell to the ground. She stared at her face, now framed by a black bob that fell around her chin.
And now she could see clearly.
She wasn’t a princess.
And she never would be.
And she liked it that way.
