Chapter 5: Frozen Roses
The show started. An boy with curly blonde hair tan skin and bright green eyes steped onto the stage, followed by another boy who looked roughly 13. The tan boy was tossed a sword but didn’t take it and instead pulled out what looked like a fencing sword. “His name is Cheshire.” I heard a girl in front of me whisper. The two boys duelled but Cheshire won, he threw his rose out into the crowd, I didn’t see who caught it though. Many more boys started duelling each other. One boy always lost, one boy always won. I realized a few of the boys that lost could of won easily. They just didn’t know many sword tricks. As much as I wanted to yell out and give them advice I didn’t. Might ruin my reputation. When a few more battles remained the theatre grew quite cold. The next pair stepped onto the stage. One boy had pale skin, bleach blonde hair and pale blue eyes, he looked 14, my age. A boy tossed him a sword it froze when it reached his hands. The crowd gasped in disbelief. The boy swivelled around and the battle began. I was certain the ice sword would brake at any moment, but it didn’t. The blonde boy won. Instead of throwing a rose he threw a shard of ice, it dodged every hand that reached for it. I realized it was heading strait for me, it had almost collided into my face when I caught it. The arrow immediately turned into a rose. Everyone gawked at me. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I looked up at the stage but the boy was gone. The theatre turned back to its normal temperature but I still had goosebumps. The next battle was the very last. My travel buddy (AKA Laurence the son of Tedros and Agatha) was up next. He used Excalibur to beet the other prince. He threw his rose into the crowd, Julie caught it. She beamed. Her smile was a little to big. I could see Laurence’s face turn bright red. He gave a bow and strolled of the stage. When Crystal, Julie, Jane and I were walking to the the cafeteria I realized the letters J A K E were carved onto the rose. Jake, was that his name?
