My Ranking Points
Hi evs and nevs, here’s chapter 11! I may be changing the POV between Ivy, Ellie , and a mystery villain in the chapters after this one. Should I? Please leave your suggestions in the comments- can’t wait to hear from you all! Let me know if you’d like to be tagged.
@julianna910 CHAPTER 11: I lowered my arms, eyes squeezed tightly shut. I inhaled, taking in a deep breath. The air felt charged, like the magic was still lingering in the cold, drafty room.
I opened my eyes.
Ivy’s mouth was hanging open, eyes bulging out of her head.”How did you DO that?” I looked at the large, gilded mirror that hung on one of the pink walls.I gasped. A stranger stared back at me. A beautiful princess, with golden tresses and delicate features. Two diamond droplets hung from her ears,
and a matching diamond choker graced her elegant, swanlike neck. beautiful silver anklets circled her delicate ankles, and her tiny feet were encased in slippers of glass. Her makeup was perfect, and her hair was down except for a few braided strands that crowned her fair head. I looked at the girl in the mirror. I held my head up high. I turned to Ivy with a grin. “Come on, let’s go to class.” She grinned broadly. “Wait until they see THIS. Lorelei will die.” I shrugged. “Hopefully this will convince them I’m not an evil, child-eating witch.” We made our way to class, Ivy whistling all the way.
I took my place in the classroom. Heads turned as people whispered that the witch must have worked black magic. I didn’t mind- if I was gong to stand out, I would do it in the best possible way. Hopefully this would all blow over, but until it did I would not break. Never. I slid into a seat next to Ivy and Tina, who looked a little terrified but gave me a hesitant smile. The room broke into giggles as Professor Anemone flounced up to the front of the classroom. Her hair was a wild canary yellow, and she wore a silk dress that trailed several feet behind her, which was a neon, blinding green. Her face had an abundance of makeup, and she wore a giant bow in the middle of her hair. No doubt it was the latest avant-garde look, but I wouldn’t be caught dead in that outfit. Even gentle Tina was finding had not to snicker. Professor Anemone cleared her throat. “Now, princesses, we are going to start our first lesson in one of your most useful classes- Beautification.” She spotted me, and her owlish eyes widened. “Well, this young lady clearly PREPARES for class!” a “1” exploded over my head.”Professor,I-” I tried to get her attention. I hadn’t really done anything except whisper a spell. She waved it away. “Nonsense, darling.”
She pulled out a couple sheets of paper. “Today you will take your first tests.” A grain ran through the classroom. Lorelei was indignant. “We didn’t study!” The professor smiled. “This is a test that you simply cannot study for. It will be on the importance of Beautification.” She passed out the sheets to every student, and gave us each a quill. “It starts…..now!” I looked through the questions. They were all pretty much nonsense. I finished up quickly and gave the test back. As Professor Anemone read it, her eyes grew wider and wider. She led me outside into the hall, speaking in hushed tones. “Although you did not have the correct answers, you have a…er….distinct quality in your answers that is quite unique. It just so happens that our faculty has been looking for this for five years. We have a job that may be of interest to you. See me at lunch.” She hurried me back inside the classroom. My head was filled with a million questions. What job? Also, I needed to see Jase at lunch in the clearing today. What was going on?
Little did I know that this would be the day that changed my life-forever.
