My Ranking Points
Hello Everyone! It has been over one month since I have posted! Remember last time I posted I said that I felt like a terrible human being? This time I don’t even feel human. I am tremendously sorry for the wait, my life has felt like a tornado for weeks. So, as usual… thank you to @iceprinces, @iceflower322, and @sparrow. They are fabulous for letting me use their characters. Lets move on:
The sun was extra bright that day, it rays touching everything in sight. Dash and Song chirped loudly, finally waking up. It wasn’t the sun, or the birds that woke Elizabeth that morning. No, it was Sky’s pillow.
“Beth, wake up!” Sky shouted as she proceeded to smack Elizabeth’s face with her pillow.
“What?” Elizabeth sat up groggily and rubbed her eyes.
“Beth we’re gonna be late!” Addie shouted.
Elizabeth snapped to attention. She jumped out of bed, hastily threw on her uniform, and grabbed her books. She and her roommates ran out the door to their class.
Princess etiquette was boring, as always. Nobody was interested in learning about proper spoon placement. In Beautification, Professor Anemone pointed out that Elizabeth’s hair was a mess. Elizabeth hadn’t had time to brush it that morning. The day droned on, and the girls were all too eager to escape Princess Uma’s lecture about the difference between different owl calls, and head to the Clearing for lunch. The trio was talking about their ‘Good Deeds’ homework (which was due after lunch), when Cass plopped down next to them. Sky rolled her eyes.
“What do you want?” she asked. Cass ignored her and began to speak.
“Did you hear that they might postpone the Trial by Tale?” Cass asked.
“Why?” Elizabeth questioned, though she already had an idea. Cass leaned in and spoke in a hushed tone.
“Rumor has it, that students are going missing.” Elizabeth’s stomach twisted. She had been trying to forget what she had overheard. She, Addie, and Sky shared nervous glances.
“Um… what am I missing?” Cass asked, with bits of sandwich falling out of his mouth. Elizabeth told him everything as he stared at the three girls, dumbstruck.
“So the rumors are true?” Cass asked.
“I guess so.” Addie replied.
“Well then we need to do something!” Cass exclaimed, his arms flailing in the air.
“Like what?” Sky interjected.
“Well we could… um…we could.. you know..” Cass sputtered.
“Exactly, there is nothing we can do.” Sky said.
“She’s right.” Elizabeth agreed. “The smartest thing to do is let the Dean’s handle it.” Cass put his arms down, dejected.
“I guess you’re right.” he said glumly. Elizabeth tuned her friends out as she saw Isaiah sitting across the Clearing. He caught her gaze, smiled, and winked. Elizabeth blushed and turned away. Before she knew it, lunch was over.
In ‘Surviving Fairytales,’ they had to tell the difference between a rock, and a Never disguised as a rock. Elizabeth got a 2, Addie got a 3, as for Sky, they didn’t know because she was in a different forest group. After class, Sky walked over to them. They started talking about their homework, which only Elizabeth seemed to enjoy.
“Excuse me.” said a familiar voice.
All three girls spun around. It was Isaiah.
“I just wanted to talk to Elizabeth, if that’s all right.” he said.
“Well, we were just in the middle if a conver- OW!” Sky said as Addie stomped on her foot.
“Yeah, you can talk to Elizabeth.” Addie said. “We’ll just um… leave.” She hastily grabbed Sky’s arm, and dragged her away.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Elizabeth asked, trying to ignore Sky’s protests from behind them.
“Well, I was wondering if you would like to meet me at the library after dinner?”
“Are you asking me on a second date?” Elizabeth teased.
“So you’re confirming that we did have a date?” Isaiah countered. Elizabeth blushed, unable to think of a comeback.
“Sure, I’d love to meet you at the library.” she said.
“Great! I’ll see you after dinner!” Isaiah jogged off to catch up with his friends.
Elizabeth wasn’t interested in her dinner that evening. She couldn’t understand how a single conversation with Isaiah could disrupt her thoughts for the rest of the day. Or why his hazel colored eyes made her heart stop. Just the thought of seeing him again-
“Um.. Beth?” Addie asked. Elizabeth blinked.
“Yeah?” she said.
“Care to answer my question?”
“What question?” Elizabeth asked dumbly. Addie sighed.
“What did you and Isaiah talk about?”
“He um… just wanted to say hi.” Elizabeth lied.
“Cool.” said Sky.
“Really?” Addie questioned. Elizabeth nodded. Addie’s eyes narrowed.
“Hmm…okay.” she said skeptically.
They finished their meal in silence. After dinner, all three girls headed back to their room.
“Oh um… I uh left one of my books downstairs.” Elizabeth said when the reached their room. “I’ll just run down and get it, you guys go on inside.” As soon as her roommates closed the door, Elizabeth ran down the glass staircase.
Elizabeth was thinking about her date with Isaiah when she reached the bottom of the stairs, and ran into someone.
“Sorry.” she said. She looked up at the person she had just run into. “Liam?” He smiled.
“Hey.” he said.
“What are you doing here?” Elizabeth asked.
“I was looking for Paublo.” Liam said, his smile turning into a worried frown. “You haven’t seen him, have you?”
“No. I can help you look though.”
“Great! I couldn’t find him here, so he might be near our hideout.”
“Then we’ll check there.” Elizabeth glanced at the star case to Honor tower and hoped that the search for Paublo wouldn’t take too long.
They walked out to the Clearing and through the trees, calling for the little rodent as they went. After a few minutes of searching, Elizabeth heard a rustle in the trees next to her.
“Paublo?” A furry face stuck out from the leaves. “Liam! I found him!” she exclaimed as she picked up the squirrel.
“Thank goodness.” Liam said. “I know you don’t like baths, but you can’t run off like that!” Elizabeth didn’t know if it was possible for a rodent to look guilty, but Paublo certainly did.
“How did you meet Paublo?” she asked.
“He followed me home one day, so I begged my mom to let me keep him. Fortunately she has a thing for rodents.”
“Really? Who’s your mom?”
“Well she’s um…”
“Alice…” he mumbled.
“Alice? As in ‘Alice in Wonderland’?”
“That’s so cool!” Elizabeth said.
“You really think so? Some of the other Everboys tease me about having a mom that fell down a hole in attempt to catch a rabbit.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” Elizabeth couldn’t believe anyone would tease Liam, he was so sweet. She had also always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland. Elizabeth heard something behind her. She turned away from Liam to identify the noise. She peered into the darkness, but there was nothing there.
“Huh. That’s funny, I could’ve sworn I heard-” she turned to face Liam, but he was not there.
“Liam? Where’d you go?” She looked around but couldn’t find him. “Liam?” she tried again. “Paublo?” Then she tried shouting. “Liam! Paub-” A hand stifled her screams. Elizabeth kicked and squirmed as she was pulled into the forest, but the kidnapper held her firmly. The dark blue sky was the last thing Elizabeth saw before she blacked out.
