My Ranking Points
thought i’d post something short i wrote recently, because this is a writing forum after all.
mackenzie didn’t want to be themself today.
tugging on the strings of their hoodie, they crossed the road to the shelter. the vampire called it the rendezvous point. whatever that meant.
perhaps a bit of alteration would go unnoticed? unlikely. people had their eyes out for people like mackenzie.
a gust of wind blew brown, brittle leaves across the cracked sidewalk. if you looked closely, you might have noticed the shimmer in the air around the dumpster. this, unfortunately, was the only place mackenzie was safe. this was also where they were supposed to wait for Little Miss Anemia’s “fashionably late” a*s.
out of sheer boredom, mackenzie started biting their nails. when all of them were bitten to a stump. they grew them back. eventually. they felt eyes on them. these people were met with a variety of crude ways to say “go away.”
mackenzie started to seriously consider leaving. however, they didn’t have enough time to finish the thought process before a petite figure turned the corner of the alleyway, donning a hideously patterned suit.
“only fifteen minutes late,” mackenzie remarked.
“you’re always late, so i set the time later i wasn’t expecting you to be here by now.” the tone was defensive, surprised.
“thought i’d entertain your offer.”
“let’s move somewhere else. i don’t trust some the people alexandra brings in,” said the girl.
mackenzie never understood why she called alex alexandra. though, her partner never called anyone by a nickname. mackenzie found this odd, especially considered they had no problem calling her mosquito. small, annoying, and likes to suck your blood.
I think it’s been a few months since I last read something you wrote but wow… This is great..
