Chapter Two- Why do I feel at home?
Cassie crashed headfirst into the bleary goo moat. Her hands scrabbled at the dead grass and she heaved herself up, coughing out the stuff. A strange noise met her ears, and she looked up and scrambled out of the way as more new students came plummeting down through the smoky air.
Why did she feel as if she had seen this School for Evil before? She was Cassie Cobbler of GAVALDON, not of the WOODS. She had never been beyond the woods before this, just like every other villager. But yet, the craggy black-rock castle looming above her sparked a memory. A memory that Cassie didn’t even know that she had.
She had been lying on the ground, screaming and crying. She was a baby. She watched helplessly as two adults flailed about in the water… then something, more of SOMEONE jolted her from her memories.
A smelly Neverboy with spiky black hair and gleaming purple eyes looked worried and scared. He rambled a little about his younger brother and mother, then hurried on his way.
Cassie traipsed through the doors with the other students.
Ran through Cassie’s mind. Cassie remembered Alex from Gavaldon. When Cassie was sent to buy bread from the bakery, she would buy it from sweet, Good, strawberry-blonde, perfect Alex. She was always so NICE to everyone about everything and it just made Cassie want to ****. There was nothing, NOTHING to be happy about with life, except, Cassie guessed, that you HAD a life. But Alex thought everything was just happy and perfect and rainbows and smiles. But Cassie knew better.
Cassie came to her senses as a sheaf of parchment was ****** in her hand. She scanned through her classes quickly, then her eyes darted to the top again. She dropped the schedule in shock.
Now, the name CASSIE OF BLOODBROOK was on the floor for all to see.
