I missed a few days, so sorry about that. I know I left on a cliffhanger on Cassie POV, so I’m going to do another from her and then two of Alex, then back to Cassie-Alex-Cassie-Alex. Also, I’m thinking of creating and submitting a Camelot Courier News and some pics of Alex and Cassie, so if anyone knows how to post to the Reader Gallery, please comment on this post! Now, jumping into the story…
Chapter Three- Cassie of Bloodbrook Unmasked
Obviously, CASSIE POV
Cassie stared at her schedule upon the floor, spiky black letters spelling ‘Cassie of Bloodbrook’ glaring up at her.
Still in shock, thoughts whirled through Cassie’s mind. The orphanage headmaster and other boys and girls always said she was born in Gavaldon, and her parents died in a mill accident shortly after. Whenever they told Cassie this, though, they always had a guilty or fearful look in their eyes. She didn’t think much of it then, in the awful orphanage, but now… she wasn’t sure who to trust.
Suddenly, a flame ignited in Cassie’s heart. Cassie of Bloodbrook. The name gave her a purpose, a power, a special strength unknown to her. She began to spin, and while she spun, she CHANGED.
No longer was her hair flat and stringy, a greasy black fading to pale blue, instead, wavy, vibrant, and fading to a colorful aqua. Her skin grew paler, and freckles spread across her face. Her lashes grew long over sparkling pale eyes, and her dumpy black frock melted to a creamy white lace dress, adorned with sparkling snowflakes around the hem, sleeves, and collar. Silken white slippers replaced muddy brown boots, and Cassie stopped spinning to see all the Nevers gaping at her.
The rose in a bush of thorns.
A dangerous gleam sparkled in Cassie’s eyes as she gleefully surveyed the Nevers, who quailed from the beautiful villainess before them. Suddenly, her expression changed as she saw her portrait being hammered up on the wall.
She looked as she did now, cascading hair, sparkling snowy dress, and bright, sly smile. Three rows above her, a portrait of a girl hung. She was also dark-haired, pale-skinned, pale-eyed, and wearing a white dress. The graduating gold-framed portrait was of a sharp-faced, smirking woman, with even paler skin, a shock of white hair twisted up elaborately, and in another detailed white dress. The eyes remained the same.
Cassie squinted at the golden plaque, and made out the words under the portraits:
EZMIA OF BLOODBROOK
For the second time, Cassie inhaled sharply.
She was the heir to the White Witch.
OMG STILL CLIFFHANGERS THOUGH!!! Unfortunately, I’m switching to Alex.
Enjoy the cliffhanger!
