My Ranking Points
You know what, I might as well do it now. So, I had loads of positive comments on my post I did with the first paragraph of the other story I’m writing. So now, here’s the full first chapter. BTW, I still haven’t thought of a name for it yet.
Gone. Lost. Forgotten. All these words can be used to describe me right now. I want to observe the damage, see how bad it actually is, but I seem to be paralysed. Does it hurt? I ask myself. You might think this is a stupid question, but I don’t really know what I feel up here. Or is it down? Colours blur around me, indicating that I am moving extremely fast. I look down at myself, but all I see is colours. Colours take up my whole vision, now I am wondering whether I have passed out. Do you have thoughts when you’re unconscious? I certainly am having thoughts now. Now the colours are darkening, turning from blinding bright to grey, now duller, duller, until black encases me and my thoughts stop.
“Is she awake?”
“How am I supposed to know?”
“Guys, just shut up!”
“Yeah, like you can speak.”
“At least I actually know when to stop talking. You could talk for eternity and a day!” My eyes open to a blur of white, a whole world away from the colours of before. As I adjust to the brightness, I see three figures leaning over me. One has holy golden hair down to her waist, a shiny smile and fair, pale skin. She beams down at me in a way that doesn’t make me feel better, in fact it almost frightens me. Next to her is a dark-skinned girl with chestnut eyes, a smaller but nicer smile and a shock of hair flowing down to her mid-back. The other girl is wearing a permanent scowl on a face that is shadowed by knotted black hair, streaked with faded red. Her sharp features give her an edgy look; I would be scared if it wasn’t for the look in her midnight blue eyes, suggesting she could be a lot of fun if you got to know her.
“Am I dead?” Are the words that slip out my mouth first. The third girl snorts.
“Of all the questions in the world you could ask us, you ask whether you’re alive?” she mocks.
“Calm down, Adelisa! How is she supposed to know?” The first girl chastises in an angelic tone. Adelisa grits her teeth.
“Don’t. Use. My. Full. Name.”
“Well you were the one being difficult.” she replies with a shrug.
“Do you ever go a second without bickering?” The second girl cuts in.
“Well I’m sorry if I’m stuck here with ‘Mrs Perfect’.” Adelisa mocks.
“And we’re here stuck with ‘Mrs Moody’.” she shoots back. Adelisa just scowls. The second girl turns to me, “Well, you seem to have met Ade (Add-ee). I’m Ivana and this is Arabella,” she says, gesturing towards the angelic one. She waves daintily. “And to answer your question, we are most definitely alive but we are in a different realm to the one it seems you’re used to.” she studies my clothes. I had forgotten about the rest of my body until now. Only when I do remember does the pain of it all come back into my body, a fierce strike of agony shooting up my spine and flooding into my head. I force myself into consciousness, I am not done with these girls yet, and try extremely hard not to cry out loud. To avoid doing so, I shove my fist into my mouth, biting down hard, so hard that I can taste blood.
“Oh look, Mrs Mystery has become mortal (!)” Ade says, looking bored.
“Oh look, Mrs Moody is unused to not getting all the attention (!)” Ivana says, glaring at her.
“I’m sorry, I don’t think I caught your name,” Arabella says dreamily, gazing down at me.
“Celestia” I choke. Arabella tilts her head.
“That’s pretty. Well, Celestia, I’m pleased to make your acquaintance.” I’m glad that she isn’t positively beaming anymore, it makes me want to be her friend a little bit more.
“Umm, so where..where are we?” I ask.
“Well, this is our world.” Ivana replies, like this explains everything. This is when I realise they’re all wearing white dresses. My eyes move to Ade, who doesn’t seem to be the type of person that wears a dress.
“They made me wear it for the welcoming.” she mumbles, catching me looking at her.
“What’s the welcoming?”
“Every year, we have a welcoming ceremony where a person from a different realm comes to live with us. That reminds me. What realm are you from?” Ivana says.
Ummm, I come from a place called Earth.” I answer, puzzelled. At my saying this, Ivana clasps her hands to her head, Arabella starts dancing and Ade gives a little smirk.
“I was so sure they were going to be from Oober. I thought I had it this year.” Ivana exclaims, looking annoyed. You always get it right, Arabella! That’s five years in a row now. How do you do it?”
“My gift! This is the only thing I ever get right! Oh, but well done, Ade. This is the first you’ve got right for years!” Arabella sings, overflowing with joy. Ade looks up at her.
“Oh for goodness sake, would you sit down! Mrs Whatever-her-name-is is probably gonna think we’re all weirdos. We know you are, but I don’t need you to ruin my image.” she says, breaking the tone.
“I’m sorry, I still don’t understand. Where am I? And where in the world is ‘Oober?”
“Sorry, got caught up in my defeat a little there. Well, this is the Telemania, the only place in Regimay where you can travel through realms. There is countless realms out there, far too many for me to name. Let’s start here. Right now is the Welcoming Ceremony, this takes place once a year and it’s where people from other realms get to come and live with us for a year. At the end of it, they can either go back to their realm or choose to live with us. We’ve only had a few stayers, most people have left because of family and so on. But still, it’s a fun experience!” Ivana explains, “We should probably come out now, we don’t want to keep them waiting for too long. This is my first year doing this, I can’t believe they picked me!”
“Wait, wait, wait. Keep who waiting?” I ask. But Ivana is already jumping off the cloud, followed by Ade. Arabella turns round and beckons for me to follow. I feel a rushing sound fill my ears as I free-fall into space, finally feeling my feet touch ground.
“Everyone here?” Ivana asks “Good. Get ready.” she opens the curtains.
She wasn’t kidding about the amount of people.
