My Ranking Points
Chapter 4: The Appearance vs. the Heart:
The next day, I left breakfast for Good Deeds. I smiled at Professor Dovey and walked to the window. In the clearing, I saw a stunning girl arguing with Tedros.
Professor Dovey came and laid a hand on my shoulder. “Her name is Sophie. She is a Never.”
My voice appeared emotional. “I can tell she’s a Never. She has the features of Good. Golden hair, green eyes, pale skin. Yet, just looking at her, I see a cold devilish soul.”
“You have the capabilities and potential of a School Master,” Professor Dovey whispered as I returned to my seat.
An angry Tedros stormed into Good Deeds. He sat down beside me. I put my hand on his shoulder and slowly leaned against him. He slowly relaxed his tense body. Professor Dovey was amazed when she saw how calm Tedros became. Nevertheless, she shook her head and continued talking. She talked about Good Deeds, I suddenly realized that Tedros had left the room. Without telling Professor Dovey, I cast a spell that would prevent anyone from noticing I was gone. I am pretty sure no one else here knows how to do magic or has their magic unlocked. I disappeared from the class and ran to the clearing.
“Tedros, just give me a chance.” Sophie begged.
“My heart doesn’t want you.” Tedros said.
“Who else could your heart desire?” Sophie asked scornfully.
I stepped in. Sophie threw a rock at Tedros. I dragged the shocked boy with me behind a bush. Sophie fired a curse. I caused a shield so strong, it ricocheted Sophie’s curse back at her. She dived and flung a spell that was so off aim, I didn’t bother to use a shield.
“Who unlocked your magic?” I panted diving while steering Tedros.
“No one.” She said as I magically protected Tedros.
“Wait.” I said. “That means we are in a…” I said.
I knew there was one thing I could do. I soothed Tedros, and he stood. He was confounded by the spells we had fired everywhere. He lifted his hand, and magic randomly shot out. I dived and twisted around, but Sophie wasn’t so agile. She got the full blow of Tedros’ spells. I locked Tedros’ magic, and reversed all the spells that we had cast. Sophie looked shocked that her true love would strike her.
“You watch it.” She hissed. “I know you love Tedros, but Tedros is my love. You are not a worthy princess of him.”
“I can decide who is my princess, thank you very much.” Tedros said. “And as a matter of fact, Ann is already technically a queen.”
“Where is her crown?” Sophie scorned.
“Sophie, one thing you don’t understand. A crown and beauty don’t make someone a queen. It takes heart, determination, and passion. And I do have a crown, it’s on my head if you haven’t noticed.” I explained tiredly.
“Seems like you haven’t got any of those.” Sophie laughed.
“Excuse me.” Tedros said. “But she just risked her life to save me. She protected me from you. She made an illusion that we were still in class. I don’t love you Sophie. You can’t fight for love that can’t be returned.”
“I’ll make you love me.” Sophie jeered.
I cast a spell that took Tedros and me back into class before Sophie could kill either of us. I was hiding deep pain in my shoulder that had taken the worst of several dives. My feet were damaged severely too. I hid it from everyone, including Tedros.
At the end of class Professor Dovey called to me and Tedros. “Impressive spell work Ann. Sit both of you.”
