Thoughts weigh heavily in my head
As I lie on a pure-white bed
Kept within four walls bare
Do I even care
Often brought tea and told
To rest, wishing I’ll quickly heal
Tucked in, my skin is cold
But far less than I feel
A living corpse on the inside
Enduring time in quarantine
Isn’t anything to be seen
Tears would be wasted if I cried
Staring with dead, dark-rimmed eyes
Through closed curtains at pale skies
Having a faded, snowy pallor
Little seems to truly matter
Still lingers a glimmer of hope
Doing what I can to cope
Nowhere near the death knell
Soon I will feel well

Hey, it’s been a while!!
This is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. I especially love the line, “A living corpse on the inside”.
How have you been? Any more inky slime transformations? (:

Reposting deleted poems from Open Chat #14: This was written in 2018 and unexpectedly turned out to be prophetic.
