Hi, so I know everybody is getting all worked up over the casting of Sophie and Agatha, but I was discussing with my friend and I don’t really know how they should cast Dot. Dot looses a bunch of weight in the second book, remember? It’s obviously immoral to make an actress basically starve herself for a role (because there’s no diet that will…[Read more]
Hmm… That’s acc a really good point, I didn’t think of that. Well I don’t think anyone is to worried about this yet, since we don’t even know if there will be a second movie, but if there is… Well, idk. I think they should use CGI to make her look slimmer. After all, she wasn’t described as super skinny, only slimmER and curvy
@nopressurefilms
Oh, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. It’ll get a second movie if it doesn’t flop and I’m really hoping it isn’t awful.
Although there’s no announcement for a second film yet, I do believe that your concern is really valid! I’d like to hear your opinion on CGI? Do you think that could be an option?
I think CGI could work but idk how big the budget is. With series that Netflix do, they don’t tend to up the budget until later films (when they are sure that people actually want more) and I hope the budget goes to more important things, like building live sets and using practical effects, instead of green screen and too much CGI. It’s very hard…[Read more]
I think they should take out the weight loss plot point because it’s super problematic and sends a bad message (dot getting popular after her transformation etc)
I agree that some aspects of the plotline are problematic but it also leads to a very important realization in Dot’s arc that people are going to be unhappy with her no matter her size and all that matters is her accepting herself (that whole quote I mentioned from her big speech in the third book). I think she got popular because she, unlike…[Read more]
Ok, does no one else think it’s slightly. . . Suspicious that the actresses for both Agatha and Sophie have musical backgrounds? And that awhile back, there was an SGE musical competition? I’m just putting that out there. . ,
omg do you think its a musical? omg that would be amaaaaazing ahhhhhhhh
ok ok guys i found an interview of sofia wylie and it’s a few years old but the agatha vibes are unmistakable i literally cannot believe how similar they are as people
Before, I had a lot of doubts about her as Agatha (I posted my thoughts as soon as they told us the casting) and one of the biggest ones was that based on what I knew about her before and her previous acting, I didn’t think she gave off “Agatha vibes.” I hereby rescind that statement. Also, before I was a bit disappointed that she didn’t look like…[Read more]
omg, I literally love her already, the queen is going to be perfect for Agatha.
But like will they do her hair differently because I just don’t see Agatha with that curly hair (even tho it’s gorgeous) and also on the covers of the books, Agatha’s hair is black, short and straight
I’m not sure… I mean I love her curly hair and it’s absolutely beautiful, but it doesn’t exactly give off “Agatha vibes.” They might straighten it or they might just leave it how it is. Either way, I’m sure they’ll find a way to make her look very Agatha-y.
i don’t know what they’ll do, but i also don’t think it really matters? agatha’s hairstyle might be a signature part of her look but it doesn’t really affect the story at all so i think they could just keep her curly hair and it wouldn’t change anything. they could also straighten it, put on a wig, whatever, but it will look fine either way
for those of you saying sophie and agatha should be portrayed by younger actresses because that’s how old they are in the books: first of all, they’re not 12 at the beginning of book 1 lol, they’re 15. 12 is the minimum age to attend sge, but it doesn’t necessarily mean everyone is 12 in their first year. secondly, considering book 1 is very…[Read more]
Okay… MAAAAYYYYBBBEEE I have too much time on my hands if I spend a minute each day opening to pages 207-210 in Crystal of Time, and all the while listening to the track “Romantic Flight” from the How to Train Your Dragon Soundtrack? Maybe. (I am waaaayyyyyy to obsessed with Hophie right now…)
Hey everybody!! I have theories 🙂
So, I recently finished A Crystal of Time 3 or 4 days ago (I’ve kind of been in a haze, I don’t exactly remember), and there was ssoooooo much to unpack, I sort of started taking notes. So I’m just going to dump my favorite theory here.
Oh yeah, and SPOILER ALERT (in case you hadn’t already assumed).
The two…[Read more]
Well, they certainly don’t look like the original Rhian and Rafal…
You’re sure? We never actually saw past Rhian, and Japeth is described as having “milky white skin” (even if the ****** features aren’t the same). Of course, there are a lot of past instances that repeat in Book 5 through people who didn’t look exactly like their past selves so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But Rhian is pale skinned he just has a fake tan (i think)
You might be right! However, I’d honestly be surprised if Rhian’s tan was fake. There’s virtually no reason for it, and he’s been tan since QFG, when he wouldn’t really have access to a tanning salon since he was off “fighting” the Snake. But who knows?
WHOA you might be right!! Otherwise why would Sophie mention Rhian being the Good School Master’s name in QFG?
my first thought when i read the book was that Japeth’s first name was Rhian for some reason and then i realized 2 seconds later that that makes no sense
i’m stupid lol
oh yeah someone commented the same thing before, also because evelyn their mother was close to rafal and stuff. also @jamieparker don’t you think in the front cover of the actual book, rhian look’s very orange? It doesnt look very orange in the picture right over there >>>>> but like I got the paperback and I was surprise that all the character’s…[Read more]
For me, the hardback didn’t seem to look out of the ordinary, but that could be because I just wasn’t looking very closely. It’s very likely that Rhian’s skin is a little off-color, and I simply didn’t notice it. The only thing that I doubt about the theory that Rhian’s tan is fake is that there doesn’t really seem to be a reason for it. Why would…[Read more]
I have a GIANT theory! Hear me out.
So, Hort and Nicola discover that Japeth is just Japeth’s middle name. His first name starts with an r (RJ). Rhian is Japeth’s brother. The School Master’s Good brother was named Rhian. The School Master’s name was Rafal! I think that Japeth’s first name is Rafal. However, I don’t think that he is the actual…[Read more]
Okay first of all I just finished the 5th book yesterday and in the book it says that RJ is Japheth’s real name. Please Don’t pretend t9 make that you’re theory
No, she’s saying she already knows Japeth’s initials are RJ, but it says in the book that the J in RJ stands for Japeth, RJ’s middle name. It actually says in the book: ‘”Who’s RJ?” Hort asked. “I thought you said Aric was friends with Japeth.”
“Japeth is RJ’s middle name,” said Nicola.
“How do you know?” said Hort.
Nicola held up a faded…[Read more]
Friend
I’m sorry if I offend you.
But I have to defend myself on this as I would never do something like that. And I didn’t.
I never said any of that was a theory. Japeth is RJ’s middle name. That’s what the J stands for. We know that. However, my actual theory is that the R stands for Rafal, but not like the actual Rafal. I never would make so…[Read more]
I was thinking the same thing about his name!! That’s a really good theory. Also, @zmei68, I think they weren’t trying to claim that the fact that Evelyn sader is Japeth and Rhians mom as their theory. Same goes for the fact that it wasn’t japeths real name. Their theory was the reasoning *behind* why Japeth was named the way he was, every…[Read more]
WAIT HOLD ON! I think we are getting somewhere. Remember that Evelyn is a history teacher at the School before she was evicted. And since she’s a seer, well sort of, and with her brother, August, could he have seen the future of Rhian and Japeth, and so she named Japeth Rafal, but because he has scims, could Evelyn named Japeth’s middle name to…[Read more]
It does sound snakey! So I looked up the etymology…
Japheth
youngest of the three sons of Noah, from Latin Japheth , from Greek Iapheth , from Hebrew Yepheth , literally “enlargement,” from causative form of the stem p-t-h “to be wide, spacious
Please let There not be a third one!!!
Hi guys! This is Chapter Two of a fanfiction I’m writing! If you’d like to read Chapter 1 (if you haven’t, please, please do!) it should be somewhere in my activity (like, very far down…) or you can ask me to repost chapter one and tag you. I’m sorry there was like, a month between Chapter 1 and 2 but I just got so busy…sorry! This is much sh…[Read more]
Also! I have a horrible habit of switching between I and he/she when I’m writing. Like, I might be like: “I stared out into the darkness” but then I’m like: “she was deciding whether to go in”. Super sorry about that, it’s a bad habit.
I’m just confirming who I’m tagging:
@talia-x
@shadesofevil
@goodandevil5050
@tigerlilygirl
I can’t confirm when the next chapter will come out, but definitely less than the gap between chapters 1 and 2. It’ll probably come out in a week or two.
Thank you for reading!
