Gabe headed down to breakfast, bleary-eyed from lack of sleep. He made a beeline for the coffee, filling a mug with the rich, dark liquid. He then headed over to see Diana, only to find she was with that Nevergirl, Odette.
“Good morning,” he said, approaching the two of them.
“Hey,” Diana said. She looked like she had gotten even less sleep than he had; her eyes were ringed in dark circles, and her hair was wild. Gabe wanted to give her a hug, to ask her what was wrong, and to make it better, but he held back because of Odette.
“Gabriel,” she addressed him coolly. Obviously she was still a little ticked-off at him from what transpired in the School Master’s tower.
“So, what were you two talking about?” Gabe inquired.
“We were, um, planning to sit at Table Ten today. With the group,” Diana replied.
Gabe nodded. “Okay, then.” He hadn’t sat there since the events with Kamaria and Rhian, and the thought of going back was no small scare. However, he knew that it was the best option, especially if Grace had indeed been telling the truth.
