My Ranking Points

ms-granger posted an update in the group THE EVER NEVER HANDBOOK Talk 2 months, 3 weeks ago

I’m sure it’s still Sunday somewhere.

Hello people of the SGE Council!! You’re in luck this is the last time I have to be late before the more responsible Eliot takes over.

How was your week? The weather is finally getting nice where I am, so that’s been great. I spent today learning math jokes! Let me know if you want to hear them. Which you don’t. But if you do…

Question of the week, brought to you by Bailey!
In Nicola’s reader application in the handbook, one of the questions was: If you were marooned on a deserted island what 3 things would you want to have? If you have the handbook, you know that Nicolas brothers filled out the application for her. For her 3 things they put, a soccer ball, a hockey stick, a set of dumbells (and none of this 5-lb nonsense). Clearly in the woods, there are organized sports just like in the real world out here. What fun spin would you put on the games? Are morgrifs allowed to play? Would Evers be able to compete on the same team as Nevers? What new rules would have to be implemented?

I personally want to see mogrifs play. I think some mundane muggle sports need more spells and special talents.

Did you know that the illustrator who did the handbook was a different one from the one that did the cover pictures? Iacopo Bruno was the cover artist and Michael Blank was the handbook illustrator. While they don’t have accounts on the site, they are relatively easy to find on instagram and other socials. They even have other sge related art posted if you want to check that out! (Also courtesy of Bailey)

Ads for this week: @BronwynOfJauntJolie is writing a book!
It’s called Catching Stars, and it’s a fantasy, action, romance book that will appeal to fans of Twilight, Harry Potter, SGE, The Land of Stories, and Alex Rider. I’ll put a summary in the comments.

If you want to advertise anything, feel free to fill out this form!

    Have a great week everyone!

        Some excerpts from Catching Stars:

I have always told myself that I am too quick to trust others, and that is probably correct. Alliances will bring you help, power, and sometimes safety, but all alliances eventually break, unless they are not ones formed for survival, but for companionship. In the end, only the latter choose to stay with one another. And It is the difference between like, love… But how was I supposed to sacrifice him for the world…when I’d Sacrifice the world for him? and in love.
“I owe you everything, Raven. And for that, I’ll never let anything happen to you.” “You can’t promise that. This world is too cruel for such things.” I sighed. “Then I’ll make a new world, and take you there instead.” A smile tugged at my lips, reduced only by my aching heart. It was a childish fantasy, and we both knew it, but the kind of dream you can’t seem to look away from in your sleep. “Alright then. You rebuild your world, and take me there.” I agreed firmly. Endless and thoughtful, his confident eyes reflected my own. “Trust me, Raven, I will one day. Really. And in the meantime, I’ll be catching stars.”
“They’ve taken our children. Thousands of them. Millions. They need to know what they have done, Raven. They need to be educated.” She said sweetly, but the intentions behind the statement was clear. “Education.” I said through gritted teeth, “Is not homicide. No matter what you say, I’m not going to do it. I’m not like you. I won’t be you!” Not like you. What did that even mean? Like her? But I WAS like her. I was Flai. WE were Flai. Since when was there anything but Man and Flai in this world?

Okie, so Wyn’s book sounds super radical wonderlandiful!!!
And then for the question thingy–I would definitely let people use their talents in, like, a game of freeze tag or cops & robbers, but the teams would be very mixed in the sense that they would actually have to work together (e.g. Nevers and Evers, students who dislike each other, etc.) so that it wouldn’t give students whose talents are more useful a HUGE advantage (er… hopefully it wouldn’t ;))
And my week has been pretty good! Our neighbors invited us to celebrate Holi with them over the weekend, which I believe is a celebration of Spring, and you use a lot of colors and stuff and it was super fun XD
I also got a new book idea, and went to the library yesterday… Books with nonbinary represantion are difficult to find, but I found a superb one, Ana On the Edge, and it is simply fantastic! Like, so much so that I totally didn’t say up until 10:30 something so I only had a few pages left to read when I woke up– Oh, and I’ve been re-watching the Tangled Adventures series on Disney+ because I am a re-series-watcher XDD

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Yes, mixed teams sound awesome! Besides, you need a good defense and offense, and the schools tend to specialize in those areas. Ahhhh tag with special talents sounds like a masterful disaster!

Holi sounds like so much fun but I really don’t know anything about it.

Hm. *adds to mental list of books to read if I see them*…you stayed up til 10:30 reading? I do that like, every night. Shouldn’t, but do.

Oh I saw that show on Disney channel a few times and liked it, but I never really followed it.

My week was alright. Today was my last day of school and now it’s the Easter holidays for 2 and a half weeks, so that’s fun. I finished my reread of 1984 last night, and am now reading Misery by Stephen King NO SPOILERS
I’m also trying to persuade my parents to let me read Game of Thrones, so if anyone has any advice there that would be appreciated -_-
I recently found out Hamilton is also available for free on amazon prime so i can’t wait to watch that tomorrow!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHH I WOULD LOVE IT IF WE COULD PLAY HOCKEY IN THE ENDLESS WOODS for a spin hmmmm everyone has to wear a cool hat the hockey sticks are enchanted a different enchantment for every student depending on their talent to make it challenging

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

2 and half weeks! Lucky! I get one and a day.
Oh, three more books for my “should probably read” list.

Oh I really want to see Hamilton. But I am subscribed to exactly 1 streaming service and they do not have Hamilton.

Waiiiit I love that. Someone write these ideas down, we should RP play them.

cattyrose replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

YES we need to rp this

        hester112 replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

This didn’t show up in my notifications…

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Yeah the council notifs are always glitchy and I don’t know why. Sorry!

        spiritdream1112 replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

It is fuzzy caterpillar season in my state and I am not taking it well, where I live we don’t have the trees they live in so I’ve never had to deal with them, where I work? I went on break and my car was covered with them. These caterpillars are bloody huge and super resilient (survived three rounds of constant spraying with the hose) not fun. On the bright side, the caterpillars on my car weren’t the super deadly ones, wasn’t thrilled to find out those super deadly ones are also in season.
I feel people have become significantly dumber/karenier since spring break.
        Mogrif baseball sounds fascinating
Three things I’d want to have with me if I were marooned on a island:
Food to last me years, materials needed to fix ship, ship mechanic.

          spiritdream1112 replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Tablet crashers no work me no no why

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

THERE ARE DEADLY FUZZY CATERPILLARS?!? Oh no I love the fuzzy caterpillars! I didn’t know they were deadly ahhhh

It does feel that way, but I imagine that’s just because it’s on the news now. Sigh.

It does! How would a plant hold a bat? Magic? The questions are endless.

… I might steal this idea.

sapphy replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

so, obviously tottenham hotspurs would have all the magic on their side because they’re amazing
…that was my sister, but I’ll just leave it here. i have no opinion on football (football is the only word i allow myself to use. none of this soccer nonsense. your football is a strange amalgamation of football and rugby, and so I declare that it shall be called rugball)

          hester112 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I have no idea what is going on but………………

Honestly rugball is a much better name than “football” for a game where no one users there feet. – an american

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I mean, they do kick it occasionally but football definitely fits soccer better. I like calling it rugball though.

And I agree that it is stupid. -An American

sapphy replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

rugball has a certain fun whimsy to it that both rugby and football lack
tbh, all i know about american football rugball is that somewhere in the rugball universe, there are quarterbacks and touchdowns. those are the only two facts I know with any certainty.

          hester112 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

yea rugball makes no sense but everyone cares about it. a lot.

ladyofthebooksge replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

yeah, American football barely use their feet to touch the ball and basically what you guys said.
          -another American

        uraza169 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

Hmm, I didn’t get this notif. Strange.
Ahahaha yes right “much more responsible Eliot” indeed very very responsible *glances at the calendar and scurries away*

sapphy replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

ah football makes no sense but it’s some sort of national sport
even though we are terrible at it. I mean, really terrible.

cattyrose replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

Football soccer makes complete sense! Get the ball into the net, keep it away from the other team, and don’t use your hands. It reminds me of keep the balloon in the air, where it has a simple goal with a few extra challenges. It’s a child’s game with the addition of some extra rules to make the game a bit more fair, like offsides. Rugball is practically designed to be complicated. You have four tries to run ten yards and if you do it you get to keep going and you should try to make it to the end of the field by any means necessary even if that means kicking it the length of the field but you get half the points for that and if you do run it all the way to the other end, you get a chance to add either one or two points to your score and one is usually a safe bet but two is harder. Also we have two entirely different teams for offense and defense because it isn’t plausible at all to have to balance your teams with good offense and defense so we have to switch it up.

sapphy replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

i don’t understand football at all, any of them, so when I say that it doesn’t make sense it’s mostly about me

          uraza169 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

I’m trying to comprehend everything you just wrote

          ms-granger replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

          That’s football in simple terms!

sapphy replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

there’s a long list of things we invented and other people did better

…but not as long as the list of things we stole and then other people did better

cattyrose replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

          ugh ikrrrr

        raynaevil809 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
