Anemone stared intensely at the map he held in his hands. He had purchased it in the last town he passed through with the hope that it would show him the way back to his mother’s cottage. Unfortunately for him, the map was vague and only showed the locations of major surrounding cities.
“Ugh…” Anemone mumbled to himself. “Why did you even consider buying a map… it’s not like you could read it…”
He sighed and stuffed the map into his bag. I’ll just have to figure it out myself! He thought as he stopped to look around. It seems like he wondered into a small clearing in the woods.
“Hmm…” He voiced out loud. “I don’t recognize this area… I should keep going!”
Anemone continued skipping randomly through the trees, imagining his mother’s smiling face as he rush up to their porch, embracing her. He had missed his mother so much while he attended school. Her warm hugs. Her hearty laughs. The way that she had held his hands while showing him how to work his magic. The way her face lightened up whenever he brought home some interesting specimen he found in the forest. I miss her cooking so much, He daydreamed, so much better than- SLAM.
Anemone clutched his forehead and fell to the floor. “Owww….” He whimpered as he felt hot liquid oozing from the ripped skin on his head. “Where did that tree come from….”
He glared at the tree trunk in front of him, before jumping up to give it a couple of kicks as punishment.
“HEY, STAY WHERE YOU ARE, THIEVES!”
Anemone swiveled around toward the voice. His fowl mood instantly lifted. These people could help me find mama! He smiled brightly and hurried to the clearing where the voice had originated. There were two girls on horseback pointing weapons at a second group of people next to a destroyed carriage. The ground was littered with specks of gold.
Anemone hurried toward them and waved eagerly. “Hello! Do you know how to find my mama?”
