Chapter 1
Hai! I’m going to launch right into the Welcoming, sorry if this confuses anybody!

My stomach tightened as I took my seat in the Theatre of Tales. Ava pus a calming hand on my arm. Looking at her, my best friend seemed so assured about the school I felt slightly better.
“You’re from Camelot Rayla!” she whispered. “I’m sure you’ll get loads of roses.”
That’s not what I’m worried about though. Roses? Honestly. What if I fail? But no. Mom assured me that wouldn’t happen. It was time to actually act like a princess of Camelot.
I was sandwiched between Tara, the most beautiful Evergirl, and Ava. One side was great, the other not so much.
“I’M expecting to receive a lot of roses,” boasted Tara to her adoring cluster of fans. “And definitely one from the handsomest Everboy.”
Really? If that was the only thing Evergirls thought about, looks, then maybe they weren’t so ‘Good’ after all.
Then we hear it. Evergirls perk up at the sound. Never snarl and turn their faces into slices of lemons.
The clatter of boots.
The clash of swords.
And the door burst open.
60 handsome Everboys blasted in, concentrated in swordfight. Evergirls gasped delightedly at the sight, wishing for their Ever After. I rolled my eyes.
Finally, one appeared that dominated the rest, disarming all of the Everboys like it was no big deal. He had deep blue-grey eyes and rich brown hair. Of course he had a tan, and was lean and muscular. Tara’s eyes fixed on him determinedly like, Your mine. Cue another eye roll.
Then came the moment. All the Everboys produced delicate ruby-red roses and threw them to the girl who caught their eye the most. Tara was practically a rose magnet. Ava got one from a cute guy who she liked.
“RAY I GOT ONE!” she squealed.
I grinned and felt happy for her. I also noticed Evergirls were looking confused because the winning Everboy hadn’t pulled out a rose.
But then he did.
A gasp rippled through the Ever side, while on the Never side, you could hear snorts and boos.
He scanned the crowd.
He threw the rose.
In our direction.
Tara sat smugly, awaiting the rose her way.
And then it landed in my lap.
