I just realised, now it’s being made into a film, that there’s going to be a whole generation who discover sge through the film. Like I found the harry potter books after watching the first two movies and they greatly affected the way I read the book – same with the 100 tv show/book and the first hunger games and divergent movies. The actors who…[Read more]
I never thought about it that way, but I totally agree.
Yeah i totally agree! It better not end up like the Percy Jackson movies…..
They. Are. The . WORST!! Well, not as bad as Alice through the looking glass (There are no similarities between the book and the movie of that)
Soman did a really good job with this book – from LGBTQ+ representation, to developing an already well-established relationship like Tagatha (though his message of Agatha needing to let Tedros take the lead sometimes felt heartfelt and other times felt slightly sexist to me, though it was not all supposed to be taken like this, it just seemed like…[Read more]
I don’t think that it was really sexist. It wasn’t that Agatha couldn’t be in charge of a quest, it was that she couldn’t be in charge of Tedros’ quest but I see what you mean
Yeah, I know. Its just I really liked the dynamic between them of Tedros reverting back to his sexist views from book one and Agatha reminding him that she could be just as in charge and just of good as a leader as him every time he felt as though he had to be in charge as the prince and, although it was his quest and made sense in the arc for…[Read more]
Do you ever just plan your life as a student? Like when you’re sad and stuff. I’m fifteen right now, so I get two more chances to be whisked away to the School for Good, so I need to plan ahead, you know? In my third year, I’d definitely take Lead The Way, Radiance Retreat, History of War and Animal Communication: Study Abroad, granted I was an…[Read more]
I think about this too! Sometimes I imagine that SGE is the real world and Earth is just a story that we’re part of.
Haha! I’m in the age range for a first-year, so I’ll definitely be waiting to be taken this year! I can’t wait until 11/11/20! lol
My mom started to joke about me being taken on Nov. 11 because I’m of age now – but lol, I’m like “this ain’t a kingdom or of Woods Beyond”
Actually, we are all beyond the woods unless you live in a monarchy…
I sort of do and don’t want to be taken! ahhhhhhhhhhhh
Oh I’d wanna be taken ALL THE WAY!! Like, how can you turn that down??!?!?! (I’m sure you’ll be able to see your friends every month….or year…or decade…. 😉 )
Idk, I’m really attached to my own life and I found it really hard to adapt to a new place.
So whenever I hang out at a friends house I have no idea how to do anything.
I was originally quite skeptical about auditioning as everybody said it was going to be American but now I hear its being filmed in London. Everbody is saying that it’ll be too similar to Harry Potter but the actors will go through speech training to learn American accents or neutral accents. Besides, why are people saying its going to be too…[Read more]
I think what you said is very right @rosegoldtiger1005. I don’t think people should criticize this movie before they have even seen it! I think you are very right, plus as you said the actors go through speech training. But now moving on to the real topic: *clears through* IS THE CADT CHOSEN ALREADY CAUSE FROM THE WAY UR TALKING ITS LIKE U A…[Read more]
but why would they spend time getting English people to learn accents when there are plenty of actors with American accents
Soman really said gay rights with this book. As a girl who attend quite a traditional and homophobic school in England and has watched close friends be hurt by people’s comments, I’m so glad Soman added that conversation between Agatha and Tedros about how love is love and addressed Tedros’ fluid sexuality when it came to him and Filip. I…[Read more]
I completely agree. I admit that I used to be (before the book) homosexual, but the series and the site have changed me into believing that you can love whoever you want to love.
I’m English and my copy of book six just arrived! Guess who isn’t sleeping tonight! 🙂
Hi, so now the movie is up and running and in the works, everybody is talking about open casting and I really liked the idea at first but working in the TV and Film Industry, especially behind the scenes, is my dream and I’ve done a lot of research into the way the industry works and open casting is very tricky. Especially with a world-renowned…[Read more]
well, of course you would relocate if you were working on the movie. that’s a given. also, I have heard many casting directors say that they think video open auditions are efficient because they can go through so many people within a minute (they say it only takes about 6 seconds to see if an actor fits the role). If organized properly, video open…[Read more]
i just asked my mum. she says if i get lead, supporting or a role thets not an extra that only says a few lines, we will relocate 🙂
Yeah, I definitely get that. It’s the auditioning all over the world – relocating was obvious but the way labour rights work and schooling works, you’re looking at either having all the kids come from the same or similar school districts or hiring different tutors who specialise in different curriculums. I want to audition and I probably will but…[Read more]
I get that too but places like Australia almost never have big productions which is a disadvantage to many. the only productions I know of that are famous and from Australia is the movie ‘paper planes’ and ‘home and away’. (also MasterChef but they aren’t paid actors)
hi, english sge fans, is it only me whose book six isnt arriving until the 17th? I preordered and it was originally meant to be coming on the 11th but my mum has just informed me it isn’t being released until the 17th. Is this an issue for everyone? Or is this like only in some areas? Or just my order being messed up? I’m desperate for this book lol
Yeah same happened to me expect now it isn’t coming till the 19th 🙁
Yeah, same here although I’ve bought it on kindle so it might have something to do with that
Same I’ve just been rereading the rest of the series over and over again because I haven’t got OTK
I only just realised Hort and Nicola’s relationship is a teacher and student relationship. Like I get that Hort is still technically a student at the school but that would make him a student-teacher or the equivalent of a glorified teaching assistant, which is still immoral. Like I never liked Nicola, I always thought she was a bit arrogant and…[Read more]
I’m rereading some of the series in preparation for the 6th (I’m English, my copy hasn’t arrived yet) and book three is so slept on. It might be my favourite. It’s the book that taught me to believe in love – Tagatha is or at least was at some point my OTP, I prefer Tagatha to other ships I ship from series like Harry Potter – and book three is…[Read more]
