CHAPTER 1
“Katie! Stop it!” Grandma cried, waving her cane in the air. “You gonna hurt yourself!”
“Oh, no, ma’am. I’m not going to hurt a soul.” Katie said truthfully, continuing to build her invention. You see, Katie was an inventor. She built things, and at that moment, she was building something for her mother. Her invention cleaned ceilings. You didn’t have to get a ldder out or any of that nonsence. You just plug it in and it cleans.
“Katie, its almost eleven o’clock at night. What are you doing inventing, you got to be packing, the school masters coming soon, Katie. Oh, I cant believe my baby is going to the School for Good! I’m just too proud,” grandma said, squeezing the life out of Katie.
“Grandma, grandma!” Katie said. “I’m not getting chosen, that’s crazy. Probably Ben and Lauren, they’re the goody two shoes of the village,”Katie giggled, and Grandma giggled.
“Well, you never know. So, go, get ready! He’s coming!”
Katie just rolled her eyes and let her grandma believe that her, a black, tiny girl, would be chosen.
“Oh, that school best be ready…” she heard her grandma still saying as she climbed the stairs. Her mother was in there bed room, folding clothes. Oh, you want to take over packing?” Her mother asked.
“Ha ha, very funny,” Katie joked. “Ma, I’m not getting chosen.” Katie was beging to worry. Her grandmother was old and crazy, so it was okay if she believed a school master was going to kiddnap her. But her mother, her genious mother, was something else.
“No ones coming,” Katie said. “Now that’s the last I want to hear of this.”
