My Ranking Points
CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
Danae ran into the jungle, eyes brimming with tears.
Wait up! Hey, I know you killed Capricorn, but he was a WIMP! Sagittarius was beside her. It’s GEMINI’S fault she loved him!
“Love doesn’t work like that, Sagittarius,” muttered Danae, legs burning.
Eglantine. Sagittarius beamed. My name is Eglantine.
DON’T CALL ME EG!
“I wasn’t going to.” Danae stopped abruptly, out of breath. “Eglantine, what should I do now?”
Seek help from Solare, of course, said Eglantine in a matter-of-fact voice. She’s the guardian of all children, so you’ll be in good hands. Burn some vanilla. Eglantine’s hands passed straight through a bunch of vanilla beans and she frowned. Odd. You do it!
Danae plucked it off and picked up a breeze. She tossed the beans around the canopy. “There’s no fire.”
Easy peasy! Eg made some sparks, and the sparks caught the vanilla beans. QUICK! “Oh, Solare, help me, a child.” And then elaborate on what happened.
“Oh, Solare, help me, a child, for I killed a peer by accident, and my peers are sending me away,” begged Danae.
A flash of white, bright light filled the clearing they were in. When the the light faded, a beautiful girl only a little older than Danae, with long auburn hair, thin limbs and a flower crown was there.
“Hello, Danae,” the girl said calmly. “Solare has sent me.”
“Who are you?” said Danae, amazed.
“Why, you should know.” The girl raised a brow. “I am Karissa.”
“THE Karissa? Queen of the Woods? Saviour of Nature?” gaped Danae.
Of course, you numpty! squealed Sagittarius. Your Highness–
“None of that *******,” (Queen) Karissa said smoothly. “We’re going to work on Danae winning her way back into her group.”
“Step one,” said Karissa, turning away. “Wolves.”
