My Ranking Points
I legitimately haven’t posted on this site in over two years, but I just finished One True King (I know, I know I’m late, but I’ve been busy) and I had to come back to say something. Not sure what yet. It isn’t exactly related to book six, but I didn’t know where else to put this. I’ve been with this series for so many years now, and so much has changed in my life and in me. This series is one of those things that has steadily been with me, been a constant in my life, when so many other things haven’t. The final book, as final books often are, was my favorite, second only to the one that started it all. I loved all the twists and turns and ups and downs.
Reading this book right now was such a comfort (despite also causing significant second-hand stress and leaving me sobbing by the end, but hey, that’s just what good books do) and it was exactly what I needed. When looking for comfort, you really can’t go wrong with fairy tales. I’m going to miss the characters and the world so much, but they’re always going to be there, right on the top shelf. I can also safely say that this site and this series helped me grow my passions into what they are now. I always loved to read, but writing was never something I saw myself doing until about third or fourth grade, when I picked up a pencil and fell in love with it. I was a complete disaster when I started here, but the supporting community of people like me gave me the courage to make the people and ideas floating around in my head into something more.
I’ll miss this series. I’ve always been awful at reading endings. At goodbyes. But they have to happen eventually, because without them, we wouldn’t be able to go anywhere in life, stuck in an infinite loop and just falling, falling, falling deeper into a hole. Still, they’re hard. The great thing about books, though, is that they’re never going anywhere. You can read them again and again whenever you like, and the characters will be there, ready to go on an adventure with you a million times over. And the adventure’s not over yet. After all, there’s a movie on the way.
I guess I just wanted to say thank you. To Sophie, Agatha, Hester, Anadil, Dot, Hort. Even Tedros, although I never liked him that much. Dovey, Merlin, Robin Hood, Marian, Guinevere, Lancelot, Sader, Uma. The Storian. Soman. All the other characters and everyone on this website. Thank you beyond words. It’s been a great few years.
