Chapter 16-A Failed Plan
Carson knocked on the door. “Can we please talk to Ash?”
Ebony stuck her head out once again. “What was my answer last time?”
“We need to talk to Ash, it’s important.”
Ebony rolled her eyes. “Fine, I’ll see if Ash is willing to talk to you two.”
Ash came out of the dorm. “Yeah, what d’you want?”
“How about we go to our dorm and chat?” Shadow offered.
They walked along the corridor in silence. Shadow peered at Ash, taking in her tangled dark hair, her clouded eyes and her tired expression. Her uniform was not at it’s best, it was creased and d.irty. She looked as if she’s thrown on all of her clothes, hoping that it would look okay.
“Why do all three of you look so tired today?” he asked.
“Don’t even ask.” Ash shot back.
They continued down the corridor, the silence taking over once more. Once they arrived at the dorm, Shadow unlocked the door and they sat down on the tattered, black bed sheets.
“So? What’s up?” Ash yawned. “You better have a good reason to make me late for breakfast.”
“You were already late.” Carson replied.
“Let’s cut straight to the chase.” Shadow interjected. “We know that you killed your mother, we know about everything that happened and that you don’t want Blade to know.”
Ash tried to stay calm. “And…?”
“We have an offer for you. You help us get to the top of the class and we won’t tell Blade that you killed his mother.”
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. Keep talking, someday you’ll say something intelligent!”
“We can expose you at any moment-“
“But if you do, Blade will get so angry he’ll kill the first person in his sight-which will be you!”
“Should’ve just stuck with my plan of listening in class.” Carson mumbled.
“Anyways, don’t feel disheartened.” Ash continued. “There are many people that have no talent!” She gave them both a smile, and walked out of the room.
“Geez, that was a bit harsh.” Carson frowned.
Shadow paced around the room. “We need to think of a new plan to get us to the top of the class.
Ash’s sing-song voice echoed from down the corridor. “Don’t think, you’ll sprain your brain, if you have one!”
