“Those are the girls she hangs out with I think.” Nicola told Viktor, pointing to Jenna, Gwyn, Cora and Vienna. “We can ask them where she is.”
“Why do we need to talk to her anyway?” Viktor.
“She has something against you….I think.” She replied, distractedly.
“How do you know?” Viktor asked defensively.
“Nothing, I just figured that no ever would cross sides during lunch, alone on the first day, while someone was being beat up by a half demon and other nevers, just to ask why you were being beat up. It’s just a little strange, that’s all.”
“What?” Nicola asked, finally looking at him.
“Nothing.” Viktor replied, smiling at her.
“Well, come on.” Nicola said, eyes moving back to the evers.
She stepped towards the radiant students of good. Eyes turned to her, wondering what she was doing. Viktor stood up straighter, mimicking Nicola’s posture.
Eyes on Taylors friends, Nicola and Viktor walked with a purpose, and it was only a matter of time before the girls they were heading for reacted.
Vienna stood up quickly and screamed for a prince dramatically. Jenna looked over to the pair of nevers and turned white. Gwyn repeatedly tapped Jenna on the shoulder as if she didn’t already see them and Cora stood, ready to face them head on.
As the ever boys moved towards them to protect Vienna Nicola waved them off.
“Oh calm down boys, we only want to talk to them.” She said as she swaggered closer to the anxious girls.
Finally she stopped in front of them and Vienna performed a perfect faint that she seemed to have practiced many times before.
In as tough a stance as Nicola could bare she looked down on the cowering girls.
She let out a loud snort.
“What is your problem?” She said, laughing.
“Why are you guys so afraid of me?” She smiled.
“I’m not afraid.” Cora said, still standing heroically as the ever boys waited cautiously to jump in.
“I bet it was her.” Vienna whispered to Gwyn, popping one eye open.
Gwyn let out noise of fright in response.
“Bet what was her?” Viktor asked, stepping forward.
If it was possible, Jenna’s face was even whiter now.
“Don’t play dumb.” Cora said, glowering at the nevers. “Everyone knows about it now, your new Dean is such a gossip.”
Nicola rolled her eyes at the thought of Sophie.
“Not helping, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Nicola said.
Nicola looked down at the girls and didn’t understand why she was relishing in their fright.
Her eyes fell on Jenna who wasn’t however looking at her in fear, but Viktor.
As her friend spoke again she noticed Jenna flinch at his every word…but not at hers.
She brushed it off, almost forgetting what she was doing there.
“We’re looking for Taylor, Taylor of Avalon Towers. We met the other day and I want to introduce her to Viktor.”
Jenna stood up quickly, whiter than ever.
“No.” She said, shakily.
Nicola groaned. “Where is she?” She demanded.
“Like you don’t know.” Cora said, glaring.
But Nicola was once again eyeing Jenna. Why was she so scared of Viktor?
“I asked you a question!” Gryffin said loudly as he held Hale by the shoulders.
“Why do you care so much?! She’ll be out soon enough!” Hale said back.
Gryffin sighed, letting go of Hale. “So she’s okay?”
“What does that mean?”
“I don’t know! She was awake last I checked.”
“Well you don’t get sent to the secret infirmary for nothing.”
Gryffin sped off. He new exactly where the secret infirmary was, he should have known she was there. His mother had told him all about the school.
“Where are you going?” Hale yelled after him.
“Where do ya think?” Gryffin’s receding voice said as he bounded up the stairs.
Hale looked from Gryffin to the hall that he was moving down. Should he get Dean Dovey as planned, or follow Gryffin? With Gryffin already gone from sight, Hale turned. He set off to find Dovey, hoping Gryffin would get in trouble in soma way at all for this.
Meanwhile, Gryffin recognized the the painting of a white bearded King and turned right, just like his mother had told him to.
His feet echoed around the empty halls, trying to remember the directions.
Taylor could almost hear the loud footsteps from where she sat, but not quite.
Viktor, it has to be him. That’s why green seemed familiar, it’s the same colour he disappeared in…
Her heart pounded as she remembered that night. It was definitely Viktor and yet…how did he get into her school, never mind her class…
Her thoughts were shattered by loud footsteps, coming closer. She thought it must be Hale returning with Dovey, about to tell me to go eat lunch.
However it was Gryffin who flung around the corner seconds later, panting.
Taylor’s heart skipped a beat.
“Frenchy!” He exclaimed, walking towards her bed.
“What are you-?”
“I came as soon as I heard.” He said, regaining his breath. He leaned at the end of her bed.
“Frenchy?” Taylor began to ask,
“Are you okay?” He said quickly.
“I-I feel okay…” Taylor said, unsure of whether or not that was true.
“Why are you here?” She asked him.
His face turned red. “Uh…” He looked around as if he wasn’t sure how he got there. “I…heard something weird was going on…”
Taylor didn’t feel the need to embarrass him anymore.
“Did she say I can go to lunch?” Taylor asked.
“You havn’t talked to her have you?” Taylor asked.
“Uh. No.” He replied.
Taylor sighed. “Meh, it should be fine.” She got up, she found herself still in uniform.
Gryffin stood up straight with alarm. “Oh, okay…”
“Ya I am so hungry I could eat all of Hansel’s Haven.” As she got up Taylor became dizzy and realized her legs were asleep. She found herself falling once more, but not into darkness this time.
Gryffin caught her, smiling and Taylor blushed.
“Thanks…” she mumbled.
“No problem.” He said, back to his cool self.
“Do you mind?” Taylor asked.
“Not at all.” He grinned and stuck out his arm for her to hold. She grabbed onto it and began to walk, the room still spinning before her.
“Sooo, do you remember anything from before you…you know?” Gryffin asked, escorting her from the room.
“Apparently I won a sword fight.” Taylor replied, trying to keep herself steady. “But I don’t remember any of Swordplay class…” She continued.
“Why did you call me Frenchy?” Taylor asked, looking up at Gryffin.
“Oh,” He said, looking at her. “I thought it was obvious. The first you spoke to me were in french, that’s your nickname now. Except with an ee sound at the end.” He answered.
“Those were not the first words I spoke to you.” Taylor snorted.
Gryffin cringed slightly. “Yup, I’m pretty sure they were.” He said, nose crinkling.
“Awe,” Taylor cooed. “You’re so cute when you’re trying to forget I told you off.” She continued sarcastically.
Gryffin smirked in response. “I know.” He said, shrugging.
“You don’t think whoever made Taylor pass out made our chests glow do you?” Rian asked.
“Or maybe they want to kill everyone who defends us!” Ethan suggested loudly.
Rian shook his head, brown hair flopping from side to side. “No way, it must have been a never!” He said.
“Well we need to figure this out fast!” Ethan replied.
“Agreed.” Rian replied. “If things like this keep happening and we still don’t know what’s going on, we need to-”
“Break into the SchoolMaster’s tower!” Ethan interrupted a little too loudly.
“Sophie’s Tower you mean. Also Shut up! You’re so loud!” Rian said, lightly punching Ethan on the arm.
“I was just kidding!” Ethan said loudly again.
“Okay I’m done!”
Ethan looked around for a second. “I wasn’t kidding though. They might have stuff in there that kids have never seen.” He insisted.
“Ya, and I bet Sophie replaced it all with books about dieting and how to look pretty.” Rian scoffed.
“Sounds like something you would do.” Ethan snorted.
Rian laughed with him, finally breaking.
Now Ethan’s face became serious this time. He folded his hand over Rian’s.
“Just know whatever happens. Whatever we face…” Ethan said, looking into Rians big eyes. “We’ll face it together.” He smiled.
They hugged rib-crushingly, wondering if the whole school was watching them. They weren’t. Almost all the heads in the clearing had turned to the pair of evers who emerged from the tunnel of trees.
Thanks for reading!!! Who do you ship? What do you think will happen? Tell moi, I’m curious!
Sorry if I forgot anyone! Thanks for reading, seriously it means a lot <3
Nice chapter! As for the ship, I’m torn between Gryffin and Taylor, and Taylor and Hale. 🙂
Amazing! Omg I ship Rethan so bad! Or does Eian sound better? Anyway… Great job
I think for the ships I agree with @emberscarlet.
Gryffin and Taylor fir sure, he clearly care a lot about her. <3 🙂
I would do Taylor and Hale because Taylor and Gryffin are too obvious. Also, I feel like Hale is nicer on the inside, while Gryffin is nice on the outside. I ship Ethan and Rian too, totally. It is okay if an everboy likes an everboy! It adds interest to the story. 😉
