My Ranking Points
The Kickin’ or the Cobb
It was too much for my brain to handle. One option my heart wanted so badly but my brain was telling me that the other option was better. I was about to explode. Which should I pick? My head was spinning and my heart pounding. The room was closing in on me, as I tried to decide. “Ma’am, are you ready to order yet?” I look at the cashier and say, “Not yet.” The situation was a head and heart conflict between a Kickin’ Chicken Sandwich and a Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad.
The Kickin’ Chicken, the glorious Kickin’ Chicken, was beautiful though saucy. I could see the glorious rays of sunshine beaming around the Kickin’ Chicken, which was on the menu. My mouth watered at the thought of tasting it. Three chicken tenders were lined up in between two pieces of buttered Texas Toast. The chef had drizzled a delicious hot sauce and a delightful ranch dressing over the pieces of chicken. Fried to a perfect golden brown, the chicken was so juicy. Let’s not forget the wingman of this tasty dish, the French fries. The French fries helped drench up the leftover sauce and was also delectable dipped into ketchup. Another sidekick is the fountain drink. The drink swoops in and makes your meal a success.
My heart wanted the Kickin’ Chicken so badly. First off, I was eating at a restaurant. Second, I normally eat healthy at home. My mouth was salivating just thinking about it. “Please excuse me, miss,” says the janitor wiping up a puddle near my feet. I wipe off the drool on my face. Did I mention the Kickin’ Chicken Sandwich meal is a good price for a sandwich, fries, and a drink? Though if I get the Kickin’ Chicken, I will need multiple napkins to wipe the sauce from my fingers.
Then my head gets in the way of my delicious daydream. My head presents the Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad. This Salad has many features including the lettuce. The combination of boiled eggs, crispy bacon, and crunchy onion rings is enjoyable. Though not as good as a Kickin’ Chicken says my heart. The tomatoes, cucumbers, and shredded cheese should not be excluded from this description of the Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad. Now introducing the star of this dish the chicken, which is healthy, grilled, and…healthy. The grilled chicken is not like the crispy, golden brown fried chicken in the Kickin’ Chicken.
The advantage of this Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad is being healthy. There are no sidekicks to this salad; it is a lone wolf. The only thing that comes with this lone wolf is a cup of water. The salad has fewer calories than the Kickin Chicken; to be exact, 610 fewer. One of the disadvantages is that cucumbers are not supposed to be part of a salad! “Ma’am, can we go in front of you? You are taking a long time to decide.” I nod and let them pass. Also, the salad is more expensive. Who in their right mind would pick an expensive salad over a scrumptious sandwich?
Which should I pick the healthier choice or the delicious choice? My palms start to sweat and my head starts getting dizzy. I start feeling faint. My brain can’t choose! I call my mom and she says I have to be a responsible adult and pick myself. Also Mom says that she would pick the salad. That makes me want the sandwich more. “Ma’am, are you going to order or not?” says the cashier, as she looks at the long line of people behind me. I faint.
When I wake up, I am reclined on a bench in the restaurant. My sugar must have dropped and I fainted. But during my faint, I finally figured out what to order. I hurry up to the cashier and wait in line. The line lasts forever. I wonder if someone else is struggling with his or her order. Finally I arrive and order a Fried Chicken Cobb Salad without cucumbers. It’s the best of both worlds. The healthiness of the salad with the crunchiness of the chicken would be on one plate. I order it without cucumbers because cucumbers are disgusting.
The cashier takes my order and I grab my cup. I’m fixing to go pour me a cup of water, when the cashier asks what dressing I want. My mind says Ranch that would go great on a salad. My heart says Honey Mustard is also delicious.
You are probably wondering why I posted this. I was writing a head/heart conflict for my English class and came up with this. I hope y’all like it!
Sincerely Bookishly yours,
