Has anyone done the boy or girl quiz?
tedrosisking replied 10 months, 3 weeks ago
It said I was in the boys school
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 3 weeks ago
I found that quiz very sexist so I did not do it
maddie5 replied 10 months, 3 weeks ago
I did but hated it
maddie5 replied 10 months, 3 weeks ago
No offence if anyone did like it
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
For maddi5 and suffragette7, it’s literally supposed to be sexist. the second book is made up of all these sexist stereotypes and Soman wrote it beautifully… of course the quiz is sexist for god’s sake
rensa replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
what’s sexist?
cattyrose replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Just assuming girls like pink and pretty stuff and boys like sport and blue. Basically the whole series’ r kinda sexist but I agree the AWWP was the most
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Yes, I know, but the quiz made sexist stereotypes about the gender. Female and male are not mindsets but body types and the quiz did not show that.
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m not trying to be mean or anything. I’m just pointing out inequality.
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
All of you replying, that’s what I’m trying to point out. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT, it had sexist stereotypes because the entire second book’s theme was sexism. Also the series is NOT sexist, why would you think that?!
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
also rensa, sexist means to judge someone or place stereotypes by their gender. for example, a sexist statement would be: “Women are weak and emotional, and men shouldn’t cry”
cattyrose replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I said the whole series is KINDA sexist bc
Book 1: boys and girls have different lessons, boys tower is blue girls is pink, the girls FAIL if no boy likes them, and a whole heap of other stuff
Book 2: you explained
Book 3: its hard, but its there – Tedros thinking Agatha should always do what he says
Book 4: Can I just point out here that in no point throughout the books (haven’t read book 6) do the girls take part in any sporting activity for fun
Book 5: can’t remember its a while since I read it.
Everyone feel free to add to this or object☺ and just so y’all know I have no problem whatsoever with it as Soman writes it in so well
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
The books are sexist. It is the only thing that I don’t like about them. I’m not trying to be rude or mean to anybody. I totally agree with @CATTYROSE. I know that it is supposed to be sexist but that doesn’t make it any better. Also sexism isnt only when you are mean towards a certain gender but also when you make stereotypes of them.
I am not trying to be rude or mean to Soman or anybody else. I am just very passionate about these issues. Look at my username! 😄😊🤪
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Soman added all those in because he wanted to prove that it’s not good to be seixt.
Book 1: The boys and girls have different classes, but that doesn’t stop Agatha from doing the “boy things” well. It works the same way as Be A Man, he’s proving that it’s not sexist by adding the sexism in.
Book 3: Ok, how in any way could you think that this book is sexist just because Tedros said that!!!??? So basically if there’s a book about racism and the main character’s fighting racism the whole book but the one person’s like “black people suck” then the book is racist?! Because that’s literally the entire series, just with sexism not racism.
Book 4: Seriously, you’ve got to be kidding here. No offence but you’re being way too sensitive, just because the girls didn’t take part in sporting that’s SEXIST?! Also there wasn’t even any sporting anyway.
You can’t say the book IS sexist because there ARE sexist things in it. If you’re trying to say that you have you say it HAS sexism in it, not IS. You can’t just take random things and say it’s sexist, you two sound like femenazis right now.
No offence though, I’m just arguing my opinion and I’m not trying to be rude
cattyrose replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Its fine I don’t I’m not taking offense, like I said b4 I don’t acc mind that the books r have sexism in, for example I’m a synchronized swimmer which if u look it up is mainly a girls sport and only recently accepted men.
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Rlly? I didn’t know that they just accepted men. I thought men could do it anyway. That’s pretty cool that you’re a synchronized swimmer. Also I agree with that, but I don’t think the book is directly sexist
cattyrose replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Naaah defo not☺
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I totally get that you are arguing your opinion and I totally respect that. But I don’t think that calling us femenazis is very nice. As both a German and a feminist I find that a bit offensive. Also, I know that the sexism is small and much of it is proving that sexism is not ok, but there are little bits. This is small and I still love the series but I just can’t help pointing it out. And you can also say that it IS sexits if it HAS sexist elements. This can mean a small bit of it or the whole thing. The books aren’t very sexist. And synchronised swimming is so cool!
raynaevil809 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
There’s a difference between femenist and femenazi. I completely and wholly support femenism and I believe in woman’s rights. But femenazi is when someone goes all “all men are pigs” and used “femenism” as an excuse to discriminate men. I’m sorry if you got offended by “****” but I’m not referring to Germans, I’m referring to the way “femenists” are making false statements and discriminating men just like the Nazis.
Grammatically, you need to say it HAS sexism if you want to say that a part is sexist, because if you say it IS then it means that wholly, the book/movie/media/whatever is sexist and doesn’t refer to just one part. I was correcting your grammar, not anything else.
suffragette7 replied 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Yes, I know what you mean. Many people use femenina in the wrong way and I hope I didn’t come across like that to you. I am just very passionate about this and just want equality.
Also, saying femenazis is not right. They were horrible and killed millions. We only made a few comments so comparing us to them isn’t fair.
I also probably just got my grammar wrong.
