Here is Chapter 1 of Wolf! Hope you enjoy, let me know if you would like to be tagged, or I forgot to tag! 🙁 🙁 Sorry in advance if I did!
I tied my hair back with an annoyed sigh. Terra was going off again about how she was soooo excited that we were probably going to go to THE school. Terra was my closest friend, being the only girl my age in our pack.
“Aren’t you excited? We could be leaders! Who do you think our henchmen will be?” she had wondered.
“If it’s not in Bloodbrook, I don’t want to go.” I grumped.
“Don’t be such a homebody, Indigo!”
“My twin brother is in Bloodbrook and obviously he’s not going anywhere. I need to keep an eye on him.”
“You don’t know that! Maybe Hort has some hidden talent. Besides, it’s not like he’s depending on you. He thinks you’re dead.” Terra retaliated.
“Very blunt, Terra.”
“Oh hush. Have you any imagination?”
“Yeah. I imagine that Elder Jacob will flay us alive if we talk about this school anymore.”
“Spoilsport” muttered Terra, though she heeded my warning. I was right- Elder Jacob would be extremely angry with us. He believed the school was blasphemy. Kenna, another girl-wolf in our pack, had been taken four years prior. I wasn’t there, as I first came to the pack when I was ten, but from the stories Terra told me it was not a good time.
“Speaking of my brother, have you seen him lately?”
“No. Why don’t you just talk to him? Or at least spy on him. You know he still hasn’t gotten over your ‘death’ two years ago. It’s not even”
“We’re a secret pocket of radicals who are intent on taking back Neverland. You think Hort wouldn’t blab? Then the Evers would come. Anyway, even if I only spied on him, it’s still against pack rules.” I glared at Terra and said these words through gritted teeth. The rock I was sitting on felt cold against my legs and I contemplated transforming just to erase the chill.
Terra averted her eyes.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“Sorry, Ter” I said using her nickname. “Do you want to go steal food? We’re not on patrol today but I think the pack will appreciate it.”
She brightened at my apology and nodded assent. We weren’t exactly a band of thieves, but we had to get nourishment somehow. We had tried to grow gardens before but it never really worked- they got trampled, dehydrated, or even deliberately destroyed due to man-wolves short temper. We considered ourselves vainly above hunting so abstained from it. Therefore, we had to steal. We had stealing patrols and times and schedules, but there was never a time where extra work was prohibited.
“Terra, reach into my pocket and give me one of those little blue boxes.”
I dangled from a brick ledge. Stupid. I should have brought my gloves. We were at a Beauty and The Feast outlet. There was one in almost every kingdom, though the original and the best was in Sherwood forest. This one would suit our needs just fine though. As long as it filled the massive black sack that hung from my shoulder. It was 1 am, just after it closed for the night. I tentatively let go of the ledge with one hand and felt the cold little box being pressed into my hand.
“What is it?” inquired Terra. I slapped it onto the window lock and threw up a hand to cover my face. It exploded, making a large hole where the lock used to be.
“Mini-explosive” I said, and pushed open the window, falling seamlessly inside.
