    Chapter 4
“And she lived in the er… erm” Princess Guinevere stuttered.
“Realm, it means kingdom,” I told her.
“And she lived in the realm,” she looked up at me doubtfully, I nodded reassuringly, “of dragons for the rest of her life!”
“Well done Miss Guinevere!” I exclaimed. Her first Dragons and I book finished! I had only been with her for one month and she had improved immensely. Crack! There was a piercing screech and the castle shook. Guinevere screamed. I peered out of the window, a swirling blackness came closer and wrapped itself around the castle. I grabbed Guinevere’s hand and pulled her after me, down flights of stairs. We ran towards the library, I heaved the door as much as I could, it wouldn’t budge! King Arthur and Queen Darcy came in and shoved at the bookcase. It swung open revealing a staircase curving downwards. A black mist seeped into the room, Arthur, Darcy and Guinevere ran down the stairs, I was about to follow when I heard an ear-piercing scream, Guinevere! Arthur and Darcy charged up the stairs. A black mist seeped into the room, turning into the sinister, nightmarish shadow monster, had grabbed Guinevere. Guinevere was about to die and I was the only person who could stop that from happening! I pointed my finger at the shadow monster. It shone bright red. It flashed, the monster exploded, the mist vanishing in the blink of an eye. I caught Guinevere.
“Thank you,” she sighed before going limp in my arms. Oh no! Was I too late? I stumbled over to King Arthur and handed him Guinevere. His mouth was open wide with shock. He held Guinevere tightly before looking at me like he was looking at me for the first time.
    “Thank you,” he whispered.
Everything went dark. I’d fainted again. When I awoke, I was in the castle infirmary. Nurse Minny came in, sat me up and gave me a book to read. A few hours later she told me the King and Queen requested my presence in Guinevere’s bedroom. I stood up and smoothed my dress out. I went into the room. It was dark, with only a dim light to see the room with. A figure was lying on the bed… Guinevere. Her eyes were closed, but she was alive, her chest was rising and falling slowly.
“Your Majesties, the royal court needs you, Rose can watch over her.” The King and Queen glanced at me, looking tired. Reluctantly, they left the room. I sat next to Guinevere alone in the dark room.
“Rose?” Guinevere mumbled hoarsely. I gasped. I grasped the drink on the bedside table and held it to her lips. She gulped it thirstily. I gently sat her up, getting her to talk to me, trying to keep her awake. Eventually we were playing a game and reading together. The King and Queen entered looking anxious but when they saw that Guinevere was awake they smiled and scooped her into a hug. They looked at me.
“Thank you,” they murmered. I nodded politely at them. I quietly started to leave the room. “Oh Rose. Guinevere’s nurserymaid shall be back to work tomorrow so we no longer require you to teach her.” I nodded again, though I was secretly disappointed, we had grown so close Gwen and I. Now, I would never see her again. I left the room, gathered my things and left the castle behind me and stumbled back to the library. I traipsed up the stairs to my room, dumped my things on the floor, got into bed and slept.
