Greetings friends, and welcome to The Ever Gate!
Here are the rules if you don’t already know them:
You enter the trial with one handkerchiefs, (which I will also call flags) a small dagger, and whatever your talent is! This flag will be on your right ankle or foot and should stay there, unless someone steals and drops it, or you do. In this case, you’ll lose 3 points. The player who dropped your flag gains 3 points. If you lose your flag, you’ll be stuck watching the action for 12 hours. After that, your free to join any area of the forest you’d like and resume playing.
In order to eliminate another player, you need to make an attack and obvious grab for their flag, then wait for them to respond! If the other person counters in a way that prevents your original attack, you must begin again with a new offensive, and letting them respond. The judges will decide whether the elimination is valid, and if not, both of you will be sent to random places in the forest, decided by the Wheel of Where.
You only get one dagger to begin the trial, but you can win cool stuff like swords and health potions as well as points when the judges spin the Wheel of Who and the Wheel of Wonders! You earn 2 points for using your gift, or some of the gifts are simply points themselves.
But we also use the Wheel of Who to decide who gets trapped next. Speaking of traps, if you get caught in one, a judge will tag you with a cipher to solve. (Google form didn’t go so well last year.) If you get it right, you’re free to rejoin the trial and get 4 points. If not, you cannot rejoin until 24 hours later and will lose 3 points.
Don’t kill anyone.
This year, there will be multiple posts to represent different areas of the forest, each hosted by different judges. (We’ll all be around but it divides up the notifications a bit. ) You’ll find them all in your mentions. When you enter a new area, state that you have entered and let everyone know when you’re leaving to avoid confusion please. And if you know how to do bold font, please use it.
PG language please!
Not really a rule, but try to keep arguments to a minimum. The judges have a different, hopefully more judicial system of deciding whether moves and eliminations follow the rules. ( We actually didn’t have to use it last year so that was nice.) Instead of talking through every dispute among ourselves and the competitors, we’re just going to look at the disputed comment and anonymously vote on our judging/commentary doc. Hopefully that will simplify all our problems.
Another “not rule” but another new addition to the trial. This year we’re having a Sport Award! The trial is all about putting up a good fight, playing fair, and having fun. So the judges will nominate 3 Evers and 3 Nevers that have played a good game, regardless of how many points they scored. To our friends at the picnic, you get the final say who wins, so pay attention!

Yep! Please announce yourself whenever you enter a new area, as well as when you leave. Good luck!
*enters gate* “Hewooo! I’m Maddie and this is Mochi! It is nice to meet you!” *Mochi sleeps on Maddie’s head*
“Welp! I go now! Good luck Hailee!” *leaves gate just to look for Spady*
*I take the water I collected and freeze it under your feet, making you slip and fall on your head* I wouldn’t be so sure about that…
(Not on your head but you hit your head I worded that wierd)
Aww so sad! *I dry the waer from the blood to stop the bleeding quickly. I take some water from the trees and air and condense it into fog so I can have the element of surprise when I come up behind you holding a dagger to your kneck* Lets see if you can get out of this one
“Oowwwwieee! Meanie! Mochi! Ready now? Now use scratch on Hallie!”
*I slip into the Forest, hiding from Maddie and Hailee. I want nothing to do with that nonsense. I leave before they see me, heading towards the Cyan Caves.*
“I gotta go for now! Just stop holding me at knife point! It’s scawry!” *Mochi was dancing on Hailee’s head.
Remember when I was an innocent newbie, we teamed up, and you became my first site friend?
Well guess what. Now I’m blood thirsty.
*I follow you to the Cyan caves, slipping between the shadows, and taking care to avoid the others*
Wait I’ve been in two locations because I don’t understand this system-
Am I not allowed to be in three places at once?
I mean, you can sorta be in two places at once? There isn’t exactly a rule against it. Just know that if you get eliminated you can’t be in any of the places, so if you’re fighting two people at once in different sections, they’ll both win, in a way, if only one grabs your flag. So I recommend being in one place?
